What settings are you running?

I've got it working on an old Athlon XP 2400+ (2ghz) with 1gb ram and a 6200 geforce, I have to run everything at it's lowest setting but it works.

1.8 was laggy for a lot of people, which is why the 1.8.1 update came out so quickly.

In Allen's server, the nether wasn't as open as it is now.

No the neather usally had some very large open areas with lava at the base, it was just a matter of finding it, it's rather a big place.
it's 1/8th the size of the main world, but seeing as the main world is 4 times bigger than earth, it's still huge.

Although the new lighting make it look a lot more gloomy in your screen shot.

Hmm, whoops! I added 1.8 vanilla to the server shortly after it was released, no wonder I have never seen anyone on it as I didn't announce it here, lol!

OK, so it's running on the same IP, but the standard port. It's also vanilla, no whitelists, no permissions, nothing... just a plain SMP server. It will not be kept when I update Bukkit, it was just there for funsies.

Original server is still running Bukkit and MC 1.7.3, if you still wanna play on it but have upgraded your client, use this to control your client version.

Looks like there's lot of bugs still in 1.8 and the dev builds of Bukkit...

Umm we're on 1.8.1 now

although bukkit might be buggy, minecraft 1.8.1 is pretty stable.

I was doing some sp today, ok I'll admit I semi cheated, I started a survival game, took note of the seed (f3) then created a new creative game on the same seed so I could do a fly over of the local area.

I found the closest village, then hopped back into the survival game and ran for it, now converting the village into a base.

I do love the new glass panes, and the way you get them back not just break them like glass blocks.

Arrows are going to be far harder to make now that zombies drop rotten meat not feathers.

Had my first fight with an enderman, they're not so scarey if you know how they work. (if you don't know about them don't read up on them, just beware of the enderman and enjoy your first encounter.)

Yeah, I just couldn't be bothered to type 1.8.1... lol. That's what's running on the server alongside 1.7.3 so performance may take a bit of a hit.

Bukkit is what's really buggy at the moment, but they've only had like 1-2 people working on it as far as I can tell.

The RB will not be tonight (erm, within the next 5 hours?), we'll see about how it looks tomorrow.

Planning on rebuilding my server actually, wanna get some stuff off there. Will keep you updated.

Esh, Ted and I are still using it, but understand if you want to nuke it and move on. No point lagging out the new 1.8.x server just to keep a few people happy.

I'd love a copy of the 1.7.3 world if that's your plan.

I haven't noticed any lag on either server tbh, so it's no problem. Although, once Bukkit is updated for 1.8.1 I will probably upgrade the server. I still plan on making the old map available in 1.8.1, and if anyone wants a copy I will make it available via FTP or something once the server has been upgraded.
