    Re: Minecraft?

I want to play more, but every time I login and check what I need to build, even anything basic, and think of the crazy grind (or lack of correct information about what is needed to make them - that wiki linked before shows the original mats for IC2 and correct mats for all the GregTech stuff that is added, not replaced as far as I can tell), I get disheartened...

It's got me back into Tekkit though, am thoroughly enjoying Tekkit Lite now!

Pob, your quarry clipped the edge of a spider spawner dungeon. Nothing much of interest in the chest, I've stuck a torch on the spawner. Also as the magmatic engine had no fuel I've attached another electric engine and a generator.

Also an industrial grinder's now in the basement. It should be used instead of the pulverizer - it gives tiny piles of additional substances in addition to the main ore dust.

    Re: Minecraft?

I think I nearly broke the server today logged on in my quarry hut for the whole thing to suffer massive lag/chunk loading, because there was a giant explosion of dirt blocks, which had been leaking out because the barrel was full.
Took about 1 min for the server to sort itself out and despawn them.

So I've added some void pipe to avoid any additional issues, now 1/3 of the cobble and all the dirt is being voided, once my 10 cobble barrels are full I'll void all the cobble

It's really very odd - strangely compelling and massively retro in style. I've paid up for it (it's cheap whilst in beta) based on my experience so far.. My initial impression was "crap graphics, meh" but once you start digging (literally as it turns out) you start to "get" the whole thing.

The devs blog is here: http://notch.tumblr.com/

He's sold a lot of copies - enough to start a company believe it or not!
Funny how far things have come since this first post...

    Re: Minecraft?

Finally got round to logging in yesterday (thanks TeePee!) and I've set myself up in the red cobble hills where I found two spawners (zomble and skellie) on top of each other. I'm in the process of digging them out to do something with them.

I did notice a lot of lag but it looks like Pob's sorted that now - the itch is coming back and it feels goooood!

    Re: Minecraft?

Still getting the odd pile of stuff on the floor, but not the mountains of stuff I had before.
Double checked the pipes and I cannot see why it should occur, my only guess is that it's an off line running issue.
So I'll not run it when off line only when on, so it can just store the charge while off line.

At the same time I've almost filled a gold chest with bars so at least we'll not be short of resources for a while.

    Re: Minecraft?

I have been playing on a private server for about 2 weeks now, finally got a nice quarry > sorting system > recycler > mass fabricator setup going all from solar energy, but I need a buffer during the night/rain so looking at a small nuclear reactor to back it up.

However, I came across this video:

That big massive computer looking thing in the middle is from Applied Energistics, if you aren't using it yet, or haven't heard about it, look it up. It's an absolutely awesome mod. Basically, it digitises all of your items and allows them to be stored on storage cards which can be stacked in what looks like server racks. You can connect this system with almost all machines from other mods, allowing automatic crafting, almost instant item delivery anywhere on your network, wireless signals etc... Unbelievable!

I had a bit of a play in my home base, but I will be soon building a replication of one of our data centres for giggles and wiring up big factories nearby for crafting. Can't wait!

I've built a peat farm - I don't think I'm ready for Hydra hunting just yet

Sorry I've not been on for a while.

And good luck with the reactor, I've never really trusted them on a server

    Re: Minecraft?

It is a 'safe' design, generates no heat. And surrounded in reinforced stone.

I also put it right under your base, so if it blows I'll be fine!

    (Not really)

    Re: Minecraft?

Logged on the other day, I'm sure I left the quarry off, but it was on, which means it got to bed rock but the chest was full so lost loads of good stuff and it filled with water.

    Re: Minecraft?

I've also been having quarry issues..

My last quarry seems to have found a lava lake stretching down the last 16 levels or so. I spent ages trying to stem the flow, but it was more work than it was worth.

I have set up a new system. The Quarry is now out in the ocean. It sends the good stuff to an ender chest, and from there I have a system that pulls it out and sends it to a storage system. It should mean I'll be able to move it around a lot more easily.

I'm not sure what to work on next. I think I need to add another floor and see If I can work on a Fusion reactor. It's going to be pretty challenging assembling all the materials.

Anyone for a little ABBA caving compo? I have silk touch tools for all if needed. Lets set a time?
