According to Notch's twitter they're splitting the adventure up more. 1.9 will have villagers that spawn in new villages, but don't do anything. 1.10 will have more adventure mode content.

I was able to login but the world is totally different - a nights misadventure gone but other than that, it looks fine to me.

Ok that wasn't quite what I meant by using a village for a start point.

I didn't mean that we have pre built shelters to be claimed, that we can rip wood out of and just tunnel down from.
But a safe place you can spend the night in and get some food from (the wheat) and use the craft benches and such.

Ho hum.

I think we should level a section of the desert and divide it into plots of land for people to build houses in.

In fact I'll make a start on that now.

Well I started, then realised the village is a bit of a mess so I started leveling the land in the village and building a cactus defence wall around it, after getting blown up 3 times by creepers and then twice more as I was trying to fix the damage.
One of the houses is still not full rebuilt, one with a fenced area our back, it's now only half fenced.

And I've put a 2nd floor onto the house I claimed, there's wasn't enough room for a bed.

It's taken a while but I've got a shaft down to bedrock with a glass surrounded lava light


interesting to note that while I've got the view distance on far and the whole shaft is illuminated I've still got fogging underground.

That's a heavily modded game, using so form of economy mod and some heavy restrictions.

From what he said looks like you can only place blocks on 8x8 areas that make up a town you are registured to.
