    Re: Minecraft?

Server running CraftBukkit Beta Build 1.2.3-R0.2, so could possibly have bugs. The old map is still saved and will be brought back soon as another world once I get a decent portal plugin running. I will look at other plugins requested ASAP like the lumberjack one.

Right now anyone can join but only Hexus members who PM me their Minecraft usernames will be given permission to do anything on the server, and I hope you understand why.

    Re: Minecraft?

    Done

I think we need to find a new good seed, something with jungle and a village near the spawn (or one with them and the co-ordinates to move the spawn point too)

On mod's, it's why I suggest minor change mods only, yes timber makes a major change in the way tree's behave, but it's just that, if a new version comes out then it should be able to run the existing map just without the mod.
Expanding the world height and adding new biomes effects the map.

Out of interest Allen, are the server details public? I had a look through the thread but didn't see anything.

Ok quoting myself but I found a really nice one.

    Seed: 5367830546782169821

Initial spawn is on planes at the edge of a chasm next to a river.
south from there is a small bit of swamp, then you hit desert and a village.
To the east of the village is another river (leads back to the swamp) on the east bank of which is jungle and hill jungle after that (yep jungle on hills)
keep going south from the village and you hit snow and ice.
Apart from the mushroom area (not sure if that occurs naturally) that near enough covers every biome on near the start.

I've got a map image but photobucket no longer works from work.

    Re: Minecraft?

    SPOILER ALERT

In case anyone is interested in Seed: 5367830546782169821 I did some exploring in creative mode.
I found a desert well to the north edge of the map and there's a lot of exposed lava pits scattered about.

Map of the starting area, some key bits highlighted.

View from the Spawn point, see what I mean about being on the edge of a chasm.

Village, there's no blacksmith type building and no Iron Golem, some of testificate's are trapped because the doors are buried.

Jungle to the SE of the village, it's really odd the way this map has jungle next to Taiga and desert next to Taiga (ICE mislabelled on my map should be Taiga, that's a snow forest)

    SPOILER ALERT OVER

    Re: Minecraft?

Just poped onto the server . . . umm . . . on a small island in the middle of the ocean.

    No trees . . .

Ether a new map please or move the spawn point a long way away, please.

    Re: Minecraft?

Heh, oops... didn't even check it out. I have loaded the seed you linked above Pob, it looks pretty good.

Raz316 - The server details aren't on the thread. I have no probs with handing them out, but I don't want them easily picked up by bots which could result in the server being a target for hackers. Send me a PM with your Minecraft username and I will reply with the details.

To those of you I have already replied to, I assumed you had the details from last time, if not let me know and I will give them to you again.

OK, I have set the spawn point to a flat piece of land just next to the chasm, I will work on creating a safe house in a sec, just busy right now.

    Yep.

RedPower 2 massively expands what you can do with redstone. At least one person has managed to build an 8-bit RISC CPU in Minecraft using it.

IndustrialCraft 2 and Buildcraft both add extra items, ore types, recipes, etc. Using pipes and pneumatic tubes you can take stuff out of chests, sort it, send it down different pipes with colour coded filters... Pretty much anything you can think of, there's a way to automate it with these mods.

The whole pack together is called The Technik Pack. Yogscast did a series on it, which I can't link to yet due to post count. But if you type 'yogscast buildcraft' into YouTube it should be the top link.

OK, so the spawn building didn't quite work, probably too small. Will create a larger one elsewhere and then move the spawn point to it.
