I havent played a lot of it yet, but from seeing the graphics up to getting to the lad, i agree that there is not a lot of bump mapping ala d3 and farcry, but i still think hl2 looks more realistic. I think that the other two games still look - whilst impressive - cartoony to a degree. I mean, d3 is grat to look at, but the overall look is very shiny due to all the bump mapping. I think that on high res textures on hl2, the game look great, and ive only just got to the lab!

OT, ompressed with the engine running specs. ive got xpm2500 oced to 2500mhz, 1gig 3500 ram and 9800pro. Didnt think itd run that great but its on 1280*960 4xAA 8xAA and its quite smooth. Strange thing is that on any other res, it wont start and keeps resetting to safe mode. Odd.

Just think of the graphics in HL3!! they are gonna be awsome - 5 years of progression will show almost cinematic/lifelike gameplay hopefuly!

Well unfortunatelly thats probably what its going to be I would rather have it in 2 years but Valve have a big reputation now and they need to make sure its just as good as the first two.

I really dont mind waiting 5 years if its going to be as good as the first 2, and hopefully the graphics will be toy story/shrek quality

I'm just waiting for the HL2 expansion packs now - I can see one following Alex's story, and one following Barney (just like opposing forces and blue shift)...
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

Yep I can see that happening definately. Perhaps one from a combine soldiers perspective also. We may see the Hydra yet! Infact you can spawn one in the multiplayer

Allows you to play through the original Half Life in a MP co-op mode, plus some additional maps.
