The PS3 will sell bucketloads no matter what, as will (and already has) the Wii. They're both playing catch up with the 360 and it all comes down to the games. I had a Wii and sold it, simply because theres no games that interest me on it and the fact that having used the Wiimotes I feel the scope of accurate, in depth controls for games is going to be very limited.
Sony only has 2 worthwhile exlusives I can think of, Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid, and they don't interest me one bit.
They've lost the GTA exclusive now, and I know so many people that bought a PS2 just for either Vice city or San Andreas.
Can anyone give any reason to actually buy a PS3 in terms of titles coming out that aren't coming out on the 360?
I didn't say OMG ur a fanboy. I said you were sounding like a fanboy. A lot of your arguments are "well in a year or so it'll have some good games" and "it has a Sony badge on it". I've read through the thread again as I said cause it interests me to see the arguments and currently Hexah's argument stands far more valid than yours.
Maybe in time that will change but the fact that Sony were a year late to the market should mean there are some good games for the PS3, and there aren't
Hey I'm hoping it'll get good too, cause it means more competition and hopefully better games for all. If Blu-Ray wins out in the media format wars I may pick a PS3 up myself in all honesty
So no not calling you an actual fanboy, just saying some of the arguments are "fanboy"esque
EDIT: Didn't mean offense either

Now this sounds more of a fanboy-esque response..
KONAMI has already developed MGS games for other systems other than Sony if you check Twin Snakes for the Gamecube.
Now don't you all think that this discussion is going a little off track?
Anyhow, the argument IMO isn't about which is going to be better. I know it does develop a sense of belonging to a certain brand loyalty, but honestly, does it matter?
PS3 has its launch problems, its disadvantages and all, so does the Xbox360. Counting which has more or less really sorts out nothing because pros and cons can often work both ways depending on ppl anyways.
There will no doubt be audience catered to Sony, and there will be audiences catered for Xbox.
I feel when judging products, our judgement must always be clear, as in you stand urself 'out of the ring', and look at things with a little more abstract.
Alot of responses I read here are seemed to be targetting the PS3 as a terrible machine and that Xbox360 is the superior product.
This thread never even started as a discussion of this nature... Goodness, how it reached this stage is something I'm still fail to understand..

To be honest, the days of 'platform exclusive' games are just about ended.
It was no surprise that GTA has crossed to Xbox 360, same as it was no surprise that GH2 is going to Xbox 360.
Sure, just as you'll never see Mario on the PS3 you won't see key titles like Halo on the PS3... after all, it's an MS owned developer...
But look at the economics of making a game. Unless you're receiving some SERIOUS minting from the platform manufacturer, it'd be stupid not to spam your game across multiple similar platforms.
The Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii are all games consoles and share many similar traits... the coding won't be radically different and seeing as concept, artwork, sound and level design are over 50% of the job of making a game re-writing the game/hardware interface for different platforms is a doddle.
So I expect what we'll see instead is platform specific launch dates... so a game will be out on the PS3 two months before the Xbox 360 version and vice versa.
But I do fully expect that titles developed first on the PS3 before being ported will look better on the PS3 than the Xbox 360.
Don't forget that the Xbox 360 GPU was never specced or required to deliver 1080 images... even one of ATI's own guys was, let's say 'appalled', that MS are effectively overclocking your GPU.
That alone makes me think that the PS3 has a brighter future for high amounts of eye-candy...
If only Sony hadn't insisted on forcing the BD issue with that damn BD drive!
But right now, Sony REALLY need to sort out the online experience... the Xbox 360 far and away owns the PS3 with Xbox live. It's easy to navigate, you don't have to type in a damn thing and it just works... What the hell Sony are doing making you use a bloody web browser with a joypad to connect to the playstation network I just don't know.
With a joypad, the ONLY way to do online is with a full GUI... which is where the Xbox 360 shines like a diamond... and then there's the whole media extender thing, which, with the advent of Vista, sets the Xbox 360 up as something far more than just a games console. Again, Sony have a LOT of work to recover lost ground there too.
But, and for the sake of being balanced, I don't see any of these being console threatening shortfalls... though for the average user these will make a massive difference.
I've given up looking online for ps3 info just lately, as soon as there is any glimmer of positive PS3 news it just gets jumped on by idiots and dragged into the gutter with nonsensical fan-boy rants.
If you can get a PS3 at a good price, get motorstorm, R:FOM (if you like that sort of thing), and a couple of the others, then hole yourself up until the EU launch has passed, and the idiots have got bored and left..
It's a great system with a lot of potential
I would try a Wii, but they're still as rare as hen's teeth
Until the games releases pick up (This time of year is always rubbish), I've got Motorstorm on the PC and WOW:BC on the PC to entertain me.. (along with a pile of Blu-Ray movies, but I expect I'll be laughed at for that too )

Do you know what makes the 360 a better console than the PS3?
XBOX LIVE
Sony talk about their playstation network, but they said the same thing about PS2, that it would revolutionise online gaming. It didnt happen, and they still dont seem to have a clue how its all going to work.
Right now, the 360 is by far the better console, in terms of everything - price, games & quality.
Maybe 18 months down the line the PS3 may be a competitor, but for the moment, its best left for the sony followers.
And Im no fanboy either, I had a PS2 last generation, becasue that was the best at the time.
Times have changed.
Yes i totaly agree dj. i too had a ps2 and i currently have a psp and play it almost everyday.I am no fanboy on either sony or MS, i am a person that goes with whats currently the hottest product around.
why buy a product because of its brand name when there is a better CHEAPER product by another brand?
It does indeed. And then if you offer a genuine opinion on the PS3, even on these forums, some utter nob will claim you are a fanboy.
Its getting to the stage where you can't have a reasoned discussion, which is sad to be honest. I always take the time to make sure my opinions are honestly what I think, but whats the point with the average IQ of our gaming forum readers?
There's Hexxy, the oracle (Nick), and a few others, but (and it needs to be said) everyone else would better served on the GameFAQs forum, where 'fanboy!1!!!11' is an accepted response to someones opinions.
Why is this forum so ****, and why can't we talk about this stuff without being jumped on by a bunch of nobs with a 2 word catch phrase?
I don't know why we bother to moderate this forum, its not like it promotes inteligent discussion. This josh kid for instance, was it actually worth posting his last message?
Was it a question? An opinion? Or was it pointless drivel like 95% of the posts on this forum? Compared to the rest of HEXUS, this forum is very poor, and will remain so while its infested with know-nothing kids shouting fanboy at each other.

I can't see us being at the end of 'the era of console exclusives' - everthing points to MS and Sony wanting anything but.. Isn't it more a case of Sony not having the deep pockets anymore and MS spending the last few years on a bit of a spree?
As for whether porting is a 'doddle' - that more depends on whether you've got a standardised engine underneath it (UE3 for example) otherwise the '360 and the PS3 are deeply different to work with aren't they? It's much easier between the PC and the 360 as they share common development tools/environments/resources. Anyway, it's not really the issue - games make consoles makers money and so exclusives are how you differentiate yourself from your competitor.. Otherwise you might as well kiss bye bye to the PS3 now and basically games running on both systems are going to look the same to most people on the displays they've actually bought.
Frankly, what do you expect when talking about consoles? Their utterly marketed on brand, hype and are as much as fashion item as an iPod for the masses. As for Josh - he's entitled to his POV (and it wasn't that bad a post compared to some) as he's probably one of the people who'd actually buy one of these consoles. I'm not, so i should probably shut up.. er..
Amen to that.. I recall my experience back during 2005 was alot better..
At least posts in essence contains value, directions, and honest unbiased opinions, rather than expression enormity, be it intentional/unintentional. Yes, many are entitled to their POV, but they also must at least carry some form of foresight and perhaps some inferences to things around. call it critical thinking perhaps..
All i all, I still think Sony PS3 is a very good product. Why count ricochet holes on an armour when the soldier haven't even went to the battlefield and back.. Sony Online just kicked off, and I believe its better if not on par than how Xbox Live started off.
To ppl who keep calling Xbox Live to be a far superior product, yes, I agree with you. But you're not comparing apples to apples right? You're comparing a BIG RED JUICY RIPE apple with one which has just began sprouting its flesh.
That apple, what did it get? It gets hammered down like a fallen soldier. Spit on, caned and thrown off to the streets and fed to the wolves even before it learnt how to hold a weapon.
EDIT: Some last words, at least give the PS3 a chance.. many opinions are very unreasonable IMO..

My interest in the PS3 has increased whilst in the Wii it has waned. I think the PS3 is bringing the same kind of thing as the xbox 360 to the table, but is just that year behind. I remember when the xbox came out being so infuriated by the little quirks that they have ironed out. Most of this fanboyism is fanned by the pr fols who work for the companies who end up saying ludicrous an often false things. Wherever there is an option between 2 or more things there are always 'fanboys'!
Not around too often!
