For someone who didn't want kids after spending 90% of his children raising other people's i do enjoy my job. Despite all the sick, crying, screaming, nappy changing etc i wouldn't want to do anything else.

My previuos jobs have all been crap and i've always ended up working with total dickheads, so i'm quite happy to be looking after my kids, even if it doesn't pay the bills, it's such a pleasure watching them take their first steps, having them dive on you for a hug and, in the case of my nearly 3 yr old, watch her tell me where the crockery goes lol

Other good job i had was working for myself for 13 years making costumes, armour and weapons for the LRP market, until i decided 20 hour days wasn't good for the brain

Bored, disillusioned, demotivated, undervalued, etc, etc..

Hopefully I can do something about that though in the near future

My actual job is pretty easy, and the only real stress is of my own making- when I choose to argue with people attempting to blag a free ride to which they're not entitled- the poncing bastards. I could easily shrug my shoulders and let them all on, but I choose not to.

The real killer is getting out of bed at 4am, or getting home at 2am after a late shift, and then being too knackered to even cook the dinner or put the dishwasher on. Worse still is that after I started earning 50% more, we moved into a house which costs us 50% more to rent, so I'm no richer than I was before.

Apathetic, which is worrying. I have only been doing this for 4 months and I am not sure whether I like it or not yet. Then again it is a huge change. My main worry is that I think I don't like working with other people.

I do most of the time. I must admit, it's the people that I work with that make the biggest difference. It's quite mundane most times with a decent challange for me every now and again which I like. However, it's the management that really annoy me sometimes and the fact that I am virtually powerless to do anything about it.

short of going to maccys and taking a 85p an hour pay cut part time jobs are few and far between round here. so instead of me changing job the gaffer is getting a compliant filed against him with HR

Yeah I like my job at the moment, I've gone back to regular support for an AV company which is interesting but after what I used to do in Defence not really a touch on it but there was not future in that role/department.

However socially its much better, lots of pretty girls too look at and some instant kudos after the state the previous IT incumbents left it in. Starting to get my teeth in now after 3 months and getting some serious achievements done.

Also the boss is an old friend so its good most of the time but sometimes its hard working with him.
