The BBC agrees with me: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4826444.stm
That was one group of people, not a company policy.
You think these underhand tactics dont go on in lots of estate agencys?
The people were obviously dealt with accordingly.
Stop rubbishing things you probably have never done.
And if the company was all like this, why are we easily the largest agents in london, with a huge amount more houses on our register than anyone else??

I'm sure they do, hence my previous comment.
Promotion? The people were obviously dealt with accordingly.
Hitler was the leader of the largest party in Germany in the 40s. I don't like him either. And if the company was all like this, why are we easily the largest agents in london, with a huge amount more houses on our register than anyone else??
lol at you.
Il have you know we have a lie box in our lettings section .. and im not joking our manager hates lying, its the sign of a bad negotiator..
I dont care about freaking hitler, the proof is in the pudding more people choose us over other places for a reason..
Sounds to me as if Tiggerai is speaking from personal experience, so yes i think arrogant would be the term used
Im not arrogant as i dont earn anywhere near that, the person who earnt all that cash was a girl..
So im sure that changes your tone doesnt it tiggerai. "The ladies who do all the admin for a pittance, lovely."

Don't be so sure...It doesn't change my tone at all... I was was speaking from experience of working for one of the largest estate agents groups in the country and from that I make my own conclusions and will stand by them.
Why would I change my tone because a young whippersnapper came along with an argument? Gotta try harder than that.
So how is she not arrogant for sharing what she earns?
Who did you work for?
Tbh whoever it is they are not going to be anything like us anyway..
Im not coming along with an aruguent, there plenty of people here that earn good money and they are decent people..
No i will stay the same. I may buy nicer things and what not.. but if i earn alot of money its because i will have worked hard for it, the same way all the horus i work at the moment mean im on £6.21 an hour..
I have taken a large payrise coming into this job, i dont think im better than anyone else, i just dont agree with the way people stereotype places.
There is misconduct in many roles not just sales..
And also you mentioned you supported this group.. thats not woking in the job for the companies main purpose is it.. i could be in support for BA doesnt mean i fly planes or have anything to do with them..

Another witty informed post there well done.
I will agree to an extent that there are alot of stereotypical estate agents in this company.. but that doesnt make everyone to ever dothe job the same..
My dad shared the same tunnel vision view as you untill i expllained how i work, and went into detail about hours, returns, culture and what not and has changed his mind, the problem is you wont let yourlsef get over the stereotype..
This is true, i have been in sales for 9 years now, and i will stay there for the forseeable future. Of course i pride myself on being the honest salesman, honest to the point of being incredibly blunt at times, but still, honest.
However, the place you work at has not been stereotyped, its been investigated, thats entirely different, and while you yourself may not be the stereotypical estate agent, you are working for a company that is quite frankly, full of them. As much as you may want to, you are not going to change that image on your own. Tiggerai's comments as have been mentioned, were based entirely on personal experience, and not on a sweeping generalization of the entire industry, they were people she has dealt with on a daily basis in a supporting role and apparently they were found to be..... arrogant.
Now all power to you if you think you can go into that industry, do a good honest job, make some money and go home with a clean conscience, but be very very aware that the sales techniques you are being taught may well be that little bit *jaggy*, I know they were in my first job, and it took a great deal of exploration into sales techniques before I came up with a style that i was happy with.
In Sales, some people do need to be guided, not misled, but some really do need told what to buy and why, thats your job as a salesperson, and its incredibly satisfying when you know the customer has the right end product, even if they didnt entirely agree with you at first, In my line i have had people coming back and thanking me for getting them the right machine, software etc, when they thought they had wanted something else instead, but its a fine line between guiding and bullying at times.
Thats very true dareos.
Its somewhat harder for people to make the wrong choice about a property, and seeing ass i only deal with lettings, its more quickfire and theres not so much problem with it.
I know foxtons was found out to be a bit risky, but i brought this up in the interview with the director of the company, and he said that the company pride themselves in offering a different level of customer service and in alot of cases i agree.
On out first day we went into 3 other agents to mock up buying a house, and then go into a foxtons branch ( in casual clothes) and the difference was huge, it really was. I would be the first to want to start an arugument with the staff if the exp i had was bad with foxtons.
I dont like lying to people anyway, but i mean when it comes to my actual role its more an adviser than a salesman, and its on the service i provide whether they then want to come to us when its time to sell or buy thier next home.
And as i said again, we do have 3x as many houses on the market as the next rival so theres an element of something is going right.
now im not going to say white is black, there are some choice individuals, but there are everywhere, i personally think people selling pc products at stupid prices and selling peoople rubbish , that a. will break, and b they dont need is just as bad.
Anyway enough of that, seeing as it was actually you tiggerrai that started this with your slack comment that wasnt really needed.
In short i do like my job so far
