Paul, I think that you may have taken my quote the wrong way. Yes, I watch other football on TV and live when I get the chance. Football is one of my loves, I still love playing league football and I just appreciate good football. Note that i state he was part of the greatest team that "I" have ever seen. I'm not trying to tell everyone else to agree with me - Its not for me to say. And by team, I mean dont mean Arsenal, but a specific collection of players at a specific point in time. Read on.

Even though I am an Arsenal fan, you can tell by my previous post that I'm not jumping on the bandwagon, but try trying to play a little bit of devils advocate, so not exactly a fanboi either. I've only really been watching since about 1986-ish as I'm not THAT old (Probably something you DONT know) but in that time, I HAVE appreciated the great teams that have been about.

The AC Milan teams of the early 90s for being damn near impregnable (You think Chelsea can defend, google Franco Baresi & Co...), the Liverpool teams of yesteryear for just being so consistent, even Man Utd in their previous glory years in the mid 90s onwards (I dont have to like them, but I appreciate that they really were trailblazing at the time). The flair of the Barca team with Stoichkoff and Romario, the technical abilty of the young Ajax European cup winners that spawned so many winners... The list goes on. I appreciate all of the qualities of the aforementioned and I could go on about many more, trust me.

I wasnt just blindly making an 'Arsenal Fan' comment. When I say the greatest team I've ever seen, I am telling my own personal truth. In all the football that I have ever seen, I honestly dont think that there has been a team that has ever matched the one-touch, incisive, pacy, counteracttacking football that was produced in our double winning season (or when we were 'invinvible'). I just thought 'Thats how football should be played...'. We may not have had the best defence, or were always the most clinical, or did so well in Europe, but the way that we could cut teams apart at speed - thats what I think made us great. It really would take some Kahones to say that we didnt play great football then

Is that not enough justification for you? Does that sound like a fanboi response?

Any way Alan Hansen agreed about us being great too on MOTD - and he's a legend

J.O.S.H.1408 - I'm an Arsenal fan too and I am ashamed to be even that remotely connected to you. You haven't got the first clue about how the transfer market works let alone the reason why Freddie left. You seem to take internet rumour and radio phone ins by so called fans as fact. These fans have the same amount of knowledge and vision of the game as yourself. i.e. very little.

Aresenal last year were a very young team, who have been trained to play incisive, one touch, pass and move football. This is how it should be and makes fantastic watching, HOWEVER...

Over the last couple of years it has become plainly obvious, even to the layman, that Arsenal have lacked that critical pass that leads to a goal scoring opportunity. I agree with J phang, this is because Bergkamp or an equivalent is not there. Consequently Aresenal tend to over elaborate, especially around the "D". This is dead easy to defend against. 4-5-1 with 2 defensive midfielders and you can squeeze Arsenal out around the edge of the box, deny them space and frustrate them. More attacking and free flowing teams such as the top 3 don't play this way and that's why Arsenal are able to exploit them. It's the Bolton's, Portsmouths, Everton's etc that we need to win against in order to challenge.

Only towards the last half of this last season have Arsenal resorted to a plan B when the tippy tappy stuff fails to unlock defences. Plan B is usually route 1 although I was shocked to see a player get wide and provide a cross which Henry converted. I thought I had witnessed a miricle!

Unless Arsenal can change the way they play mid match and use greater width with a plan B or C then we won't challenge for the league, we are too predictable. Henry certainly does not fit in with moving the ball wider and crossing and last season he was off colour and when you expected him in the box for a pull back from the bye line he was often nowhere to be seen.

Wenger is still in the building phase of aquiring and training a young team. It will take time for them to come off and I expect it will take a couple of years for this to happen. I'm not expecting dynamite next season. A good cup run and top four is all I would bet on. I'd love it to be more and will be happy if that happens but my head is greater than my heart at the mo.

Lundberg left because he sees this. There is no $$$ in the kitty for big name signings who are able to turn a game or influence other players. That's a shame, but it's fact, although I'm not worried, Wenger is very astute in his transfer dealings. Spending what you don't have leads to where Leeds are. If Freddie want's to leave for another club and help them build then that's fine, it's his choice and I hope he finds satisfaction in that and does well. The board's hands are tied and you can't blame them if Freddie does not see that the cash is not available. Financial stability after such a huge outlay on a new stadium is the priority. He has been great for Arsenal and Arsenal have been good to him so his parting shot in the media is probably borne more out of frustration than animosity.

Personally I fear Man U this year. They have strengthened their squad and I would put them favourites for another league title. If any English club can win in Europe this year I think it will be them.

I think the unbeaten team of 2 seasons ago will go down in history as one of the greatest sides. I would say that they were certainly one of the most entertaining to watch. They weren't the best because they did not go one to achieve what others before them have done.

iranu im ashamed of you. we failed last season not because we pass to much, its because we couldnt bloody take our CHANCES. what game team was you watching because it wasnt arsenal thats for sure.

take the west ham game at the emirates, 20+ shots on goal with abot 15 of them CLEAR CUT chances and not ONE of them went it. thats our problem, not the way we play! barca play the exact same way by passing the ball through the middle and rarely making a cross or playing route one football.

we need a clinical finisher from the midfield has well as in our strikers. our undefeated site had pires who was a clinical finisher. now if you look at our midfielders, im ashamed to say that NONE of them can finish. thats our problem.

You comment on our spending policy, well how much did henry, viera, overmars, petit, pires, edu, silvinho etc cost us? absoloutly f all mate. and where they ESTABLISHED world class players before we bought them? NOPE so ljungbergs reason of goin because of wengers transfer policy is a petty excuse because wenger has proved time and time again that you dont need to buy world class players to win trophies

you realy think ljungberg wanted to go? to west ham? thats a step down in my book and what people say infront of camera is normaly a load of bs. same thing happened to viera when he left, he said how he felt it was teh right time to leave but when he released his book, he said the truth on how arsenal literely kicked him out of arsenal. i bet its the same thing with ljungberg

IRANU may his conclusion from the season and the games he watched sounds good to me. You have made your conclusion from one game I think IRANU's Mr Logical this time because your LOGIC does not seem to add up.

You even disagree with your fellow supporters does this not actually ring a bell in your head and make you realise you may be wrong? theres lifew Jim but not as we know it?

maybe the board told him he had to go and said fine then, sod you lot

just because i disagree with a fellow gunner doesnt mean anything. we have different views and im not the ONLY gunner to share my opinions. there are LOTS of gunner fans that agree henry left us in a bad way. go browse an arsenal forum and see for yourself.

i did not based my logic on one game against west ham, that was an example. let me toss another game to the mix, arsenal vs aston villa first game at the emirates and we drew againts them dispite have sooo many chances (o and henry was playing that game). had we took even HALF those we would of won. look at all the draw results we had at the emirates,MOST of them could of been won had we taken our chances, fact.

the gap of 20+ points would of been cut a hell of a lot shorter mate

i have watched nearly every game on tv of arsenal and thats what i see, arsenal missing sitters. there is nothing wrong with passing the ball around, we just need to be CLINICAL upfront

oooh the pain of this thread, the humiliation being served up.

J.o.s.h I strongly advise you, go back to the start of the thread, count how many people have said "you are making yourself look silly with the comments you make" no-one on this thread has said "good point josh, well made" everyone in the thread is telling you, your making yourself look silly, not just with your childish approach "Henery has left so he's rubbish and always has been and smells of pooh" but the way you argue your point.

I can't help but follow this thread as each time I think, thats it it can't get any worse and each time you come back with a more random and playground view "I know you are so what am I then".

Please save any respect you may have left and credability for future threads.....stop now.
    It is Inevitable.....
