so your saying a striker is judged by the ammount of goals he bangs inonly one that stands a chance of scoring 20+ goals
ok.....look what happen to drogba in his first two seasons at chelsea, he was utter crap but now look at him, his banging in goals for fun
doesn't make any sense ???i still dont rate him has a world class striker though.
you say that your problems are that Henry won't bang in 20+ goals for el-spainish-giants, so his best days are behind him, and that you feel that someone who bangs in 20+ goals for arsenal will replace henry, yet you then say someone who bangs in 20+ goals for chelsea you don't rate ?
It is Inevitable.....

hey its just my opinion. his nearly their but for me his not quite there yet. his a great finisher no doubt but his is average at best in taking on players and creating goals himself. people liek eto, messi, henry and rvp can score goals out of nothing. rvp is not quite there yet has a world class player dispite me mentioning him alongside henry and co has i feel he needs to score more and do better overal but so far not a bad start for him though you must admit.
i mean if drogba is a world class player in your eyes then so is nistelroy. now C.Ronaldo IS a world class player without a doubt and IMO is alot better than drogba and nistelroy...
Last year RVP scored 11 goals in 17 games and Mr Henry scored 10 in 16. I think that the person who has the best chance of doing it will be RVP. He is as technically accomplished as anyone and I think that he has a good chance of being Arsenal's leading goal scorer providing he can keep himself fit. OMG I do believe that I am agreeing with JOSH on this one! I am now going through the following motions ? doctor
Now that Reyes has gone for £8 million there should be some pennies in the kitty for strengthening the squad further.
"Reality is what it is, not what you want it to be." Frank Zappa. ----------- "The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike." Huang Po.----------- "A drowsy line of wasted time bathes my open mind", - Ride.
martins from newcastle is a strong rumour of him coming to arsenal but wenger said he is happy with our current squad. IMO we need one or two more players in has if everyone stays injury free throughout the season we will be fine but of course the chances of that happening is not good. players get injured and arsenal need backup players to replace the likes of rvp and do an equal job at it for us to succed next season.
hope rvp stays fit next season. COME ON ARSENAL!!
Like I suggested way back in this thread; given half a chance I think RVP could shine at arsenal, but he doesn't have that killer aura that a players like Drogba or Henry seem to have. If he had that he would be fairly prolific I think, but I don't see him as that kind of striker really.
I have mixed opinions on Drogba.
Against most sides he will run riot with them given half a chance, but there are a few, just a few teams that know exactly how to take him out of the game and not show him many chances and against those sides he has looked completely ordinary and defunct in the game.
Other than the FA Cup final, Man Utd to date have dealt with him and made him look like nothing, Liverpool can also deal with him from what I have seen. Plus unless the ball lands at his feat he won't work for it very much. I will give him credit though and say he gets back to defend more than a lot of all out strikers do. I also feel that to be a truly world class player a player must be a world class sportsman on the pitch. Drogba IS NOT a sports man in anyway shape or form.

Henry goal arsenal scoring record.. 369 Games 226 Goals 82 assists
Van Persie arsenal scoring record 110 Games 35 Goals 10 Assists
See my concern....

you can't compare them as players. Thierry is a finished article and RVP is a prospect, a good one at that. I doubt that Henry's record at Juve was much better than RVP at his age.
As Man U fan, I think RVP is going to be the next big thing. I feel he's got the technical skill and aggression of Rooney but in a much neater package. I think it won't be long before he becomes 20 goal a season man.
You are right Clarky and thats the point i'm making, RVP is a bergkamp style player, and while gifted is the same sort of totals imo as bergkamp. He's not going to be scoring 20+
But lets see, season starts in sub 2 weeks.

Sorry to go all statistical on you here. I don't know why we don't do stats more in football like they do in American Football, its actually quite interesting if you have a passion for the beautiful game. Anyway that's beside the point.
Thierry Henry
1995–1998 AS Monaco 110 appearances 20 goals
1998–1999 Juventus 16 appearances 3 goals
That's a goal ratio of about 0.18. 1 goal every 5 matches if you will, in his first 4 years as a pro.
Robin Van Persie
2001-2004 Feyenoord 61 appearances 14 goals
2004-present Arsenal 72 appearances 21 goals
Goal ratio of 0.26 so far.
For the stages that they are in there careers, I'd argue that RVP is a better player at his age than Thierry was at that age.
Rant over.
LOL besides you do you see anyone critisising me? NOPE has i have revived this thread in a correct mannor where people are discussing and making good points instead of me vs everyone
anyways back to the rvp debate, those stats at his age versus henry's stats does look promising indeed. i totaly agree rvp will be like dennise the menace. rvp and henry are two different players imo. henry has pace and abit of skill, and rvp has brillient skill and will try to score from impossible situations rather henry creating a good situation for him to score

Actually can't be bothered with this thread any more

TH 1995 - 1999 = 4 years
RVP 2001 - 2007 = 6 years
well done with those stats clarky
lets add on the missing bits shall we?
99-00 - 17 Goals, 31 Games
00-01 - 17 Goals, 35 Games
which gives us 1995 - 2001 with 20 + 3 + 17 + 17 = 57 goals. 110 + 16 + 31 + 35 = 192 games
57 / 192 = 0.296
so a BETTER start to his career than RVP.
