Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

Just joined the Vario III club - my first phone of this kind and first PDA for a while. Thanks to those reporting that they can get TT working with this; I read elsewhere that the T-mobile verion of the Kaiser was locked to Copilot.

How does the thing handle calls coming in whilst using GPS? I guess you'd want it to switch to the phone app, then swithc back automatically to GPS when you terminate the call. Is this what happens in practice?

    Thanks

    Band that's what happens matey.

And it's not LOCKED to co-pilot.

The Mini SD card comes with it on, but you can remove it if you wish.

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

I am running a hacked ROM and TT6. If I get a call when running TT it rings as normall and displays the call info at the bottom of the screen (push answer or reject on screen), with TT running behind. I use a £25 holder / hands free / charger that I got of ebay, theres a button on it that you can push to answer calls, think you can also use it to make calls with TT running, just push and say the name. Or for more in depth voice control you could install voice command, which you dont have to train and can be used to manually dial, call contacts, read text messages, and loads of other stuff.

I'll stick with Winmobile for the same reasons - it's just so configurable. Yup, the default UI sucks but then there's a stack of third party apps to fix that.
    Crosshair VIII Hero (WIFI), 3900x, 32GB DDR4, Many SSDs, EVGA FTW3 3090, Ethoo 719

are there any third party apps that adopt the user interface thats similar to the iphone or th LG viewty? i like the use of big icons so that you dont have to depend on the stylus all the time

Being honest Madduck, if they keep it improving and make it customisable, I'd happily pay for it. It's that good.

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

I have a variety of sharware and freeware on my phone, if its good I tend to shove some cash the devs way. I prefer paying the odd £5 or £10 here and there to single person outfits, rtaher than the big developers. £10 is my usual cutoff amount, but if its really good would pay a bit more.

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

Just installed pointui for the first time, its really good. Nice and simple front end, but all your apps behind when you need them. Will sign up to the forums and see whats what, would like to increase the numer of favourite apps beyond 7 for starters.

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

I need to give PointUI another go, it was the second release I tried way back at Christmas. it was good, but I coulnd't live with it then.

Also have a look at PocketCM. I use that for contacts and messaging. Not perfect yet, but with every release the developer is focusing on two or three key features.

if they could get all the functionality of the phone in there i would too, only needing to leave to UI to play games/ use "3rd party" apps. then yes. its no good being able to thumb around in point UI if you still have to get the stylus out to write a text. we shall see how far they go with it.

You can also get right angled connectors without the wire in between

    Here you go:

JAVO 11 pin to 3.5mm stereo headphone adapter @ store.xda-developers.com

Although it is a shame it actually protrudes before turning 90 degrees. Would be good it is hugged the bottom of the phone.
