Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

You can get a wired remote with standard headphone adapter

I have a cheap jabra bluetooth headphoen adapter / remote. Has volume, track skip, answer, call, etc on and can be got under £20.

A good add on screen keyboard is touchpal, works really well with pointui. sort of qwerty using dictionary so you dont have to hit the exact key.

What is the batter life like on one of these things ? Will it get through a full day with calls and frequent 3G access (probably used as a modem) ?

Mine lasts a day comfortably, with a decent amount of usage - Funkstar, however, has upgraded his battery to some big fat beast battery which will last a year*

    *may be a slight lie

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

It's a 1600mAh compaired to the standard 1350mAh. I can get a full day out of it with 3G on, some GPS, a few hours of music and Bluetooth on (some of the music streamed over BT too).

You can get 3200mAh batteries too, but they come with a new extended cover for the back.

I think the new radio ROM I installed along with Dutty's v5 WinMob6.1 ROM has helped battery consumption too.

I can 1 1/2 - 2 days out of my one, thats with , an hour or more of internet, music over bluetooth for an hour, the odd call, text, and push email running. Std battery, and generally no GPS

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

Is there a USB cable that can charge as well as send data to a laptop ? I am on the internet for 4+ hours a day and it would be best to use a cable while I am at a desk and bluetooth when I am on the move for maximum battery efficiency.

Its all good, it got sent home as apposed to my uni address so had to get it posted up to me. Ended up arriving at about 1 yesterday Really pleased with it so far, just need to get downloading apps and today screen plugins! Any suggestions?? Could do with a micro sd card as well. We really do need a windows mobile subforum!!

As far as i'm aware Sinizter when you connect to a pc or laptop the default behaiviour is to charge the phone via the usb cable, once you sync data though thats using battery life of course.

Re: Just got my MDA VARIO III (HTC KAISER)

    Answer? In which way?
No matter who you buy it off, because it's winmob you can do what you want, bend it, shape it anyway you want it (cheesestrings). Seriously.

A regular USB cable will both charge and connect the phone.

I used the phone like this with the internet shared to my laptop for several hours at a time over christmas when I was down seeing family.

    Worked a treat.

I've got a 8GB in mine and it rocks.

MobyMemory.com - Mobile phone memory cards - micro-SD, Memory Stick Micro M2, mini-SD, MMC, MMCmobile, SD, Transflash, Memory Stick Pro Duo cards From SanDisk, Sony, Transcend for Nokia, Siemens, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Orange, O2, and Vodafone mobi were good when I ordered mine. At the time loads of places were taking orders for them when they didn't have any stock, MobyMemory actually had stock when they said they did.
