I had the Czech's to get the final, but they really missed Koller and things just seemed to go against them (was stupid of Polak to get sent off though, very reckless).

Oh well, good to see an African nation through, but they could struggle without Essien in the next round (probably against Brazil!), he's been immense for them.

i agree Jan Koller was a huge loss for the Czech's as was Baros who didnt even make it to the finals, there was always something lacking up front, when Polak got sent off there was no way they was coming back into it.

Essien will be sorely missed in the next round, he's been there outstanding player, it will be like playin with 10men in there next game

So, we've seen the first 2 games of the last 16....and Englands 2 worst footballing enemies going through on the same day :@ (angry smiley off msn if you dont know..). But going on that, England are going to have to up their game ALOT to compete with quality like we've seen today. Ok Germany weren't amazing, as Sweden just played badly, but Argentina and Mexico looked a different class to the England we've seen so far.

So all i can say is COME ON ENGLAND, NOWS THE TIME TO START PLAYING!!! And good luck to us tomorrow, im quite sure we can do it (assuming Ecuador haven't been taking tips from Mexico )

Congratulations England, now Sweden is out of the game I must say it's kinda sad. Although Germany played good and since we lost a lot the first 15 min it was all screwed. The captain of the fotball-team said it was because they wanted to play nice and take it easy because they didn't want any yellow cards etc. I must say that the referee was Really bad!! When he handed Lucic his second yellow card and then showed him the red one, he had this creepy smile, like he was really enjoying it . + he shouldn't have been given any card at all. But hey, no need to dwell on this forever, we're out, that's a shame. I hope it goes well for England Come on!

yeh Sweden didnt do themselves any favours yesterday, some sloppy play led to two easy goals, but u really didnt deserve getting that sending off. Still not convinced by Germany tho, they look good going forward but there defence is still pretty suspect.

Good for England getting through even if they didn't look entirely threatening they did look pretty solid, bar Terry's goof, and Carrick was great.

Just watched the Portugal - Holland game. Didn't mind who won at the outset but favoured Portugal as the game went on. Some of the Dutch sportsmanship left a lot to be desired (not that Portugal's was entirely perfect either) and I think Portugal are just more exciting to watch. Ref was dire though and completely ruined the game. Shame that Deco (as well as Costinha and maybe Figo?) will be out for the next game as he is a fantastic player to watch (some of his play was mesmerising), though good news for England.

Wow, that game was a shambles. The ref completely lost it. I really fancy our chances against Portugal now. I'm at work but our shop is closing at 3.45 so we can all get down to the pub .

hopefully we'll be ok to play against them, have to watch tho, there cheaters they'll dive if you come in 5 feet of them. Luckily after tonight ronaldo is injured and 2 are suspended
