I understand Argentina (though we did beat them in December) and Brazil (and last night was awful), but not the rest. Why can't we beat Spain? Because they beat Shevchenko 4-0? Hardly a mark of world class.
Yeeeaaaahhh!
Excellent result!!!!!!!
Jon owes Michael a £1 now!!!!!
Wish i'd put a bet on that score! Mike went to hospital to have stubborn baby teeth out today
( awww bless him, took a while to come around from the general anaesthetic, he's sore and tired now ) and the surgeon and anaethetist asked him what tonights score would be! he said 2-0 to England! with Rooney as a sub

The same Argentina we beat last time we played and who just about beat Ivory Coast 2-1?Originally Posted by Noni

Decent teams, but can't beat? Nah. I'd fancy us against both, as would most.Mexico
Ivory Coast
Kaka aside, Brazil have started slowly. They will let in goals against far worse teams than England. Still favorites though, of course.Brazil
France have shown you something in their very poor 0-0 draw with the Swiss that suggests to you we can't beat them? Please explain.France
Anyway, thats 2 poor performances, 6 points in the bag, no goals against, Rooney having a run out and a take-it-easy game against Sweden. I think you have to be satisfied with that. If you can play badly and win, you've always got a chance. Need to improve for the knock-outs though, obviously.
ENGLAND!
Agreed. It may not be the best football we've played, but its the results that count, and we're in the next round. Looking forward to the Germany v Ecuador game, who would have thought that Ecuador would be going through to the next round, for the first time ever.Originally Posted by Stewart
Depending on what happens in the Sweden game thats just kicked off, we may end up top of the group. If Ecuador draw with Germany or win them, Ecuador top the group and then we'd play Germany. And since the Germany v Ecuador will be before us, we will know what we need to do, so does anyone think that if Germany are 2nd in their group, we would purposely loose to Sweden in order to come 2nd in our group and play Ecuador instead of Germany? I think we can probably beat the current German team, but it IS Germany after all, and we ARE England, it doesnt really seem to matter if we have a good team or not, we still do badly against them.
good result, terrible game. and lampard would have scored a few if there had been rugby posts.
There is no way England would lose a game on purpose just to miss playing the Germans. We may see other teams do that and we've seen it in the past, but Germany are not a great team at the moment, their defense looks ropey at best. Also we haven't beaten Sweden in 38 years, so on Tuesday thats going to change.Originally Posted by htid
Let hope if we do meet Germany, it's another 5 - 1
somebody remove crouch from the team it was sooo painful to watch last night.
Do you mean the goal scorer?Originally Posted by mart_haj86

i agree yes he scored a goal, but im talking of the mistakes he made, again and again and ag...
That wasteful lanky beanpole? - Yeah thats the one.Originally Posted by beanbandit
Again, how the heck does a guy who's under 6 ft outjump Crouch like some of the defenders were doing in the first half?
How does a player in 40 Acre's of land get a scissor-kick so messed up that it probably went for a throw-in when he could of simply put a shoe on the ball, controlled it and then rail-gunned it past Shaka without too much trouble.
Sorry, he was dire last night.
