    Help with Talktalk....great!

Righty....Long story short, was switching to talktalk, but on the connection date not internet or homephone, so now without internet and having to use a dongle now the long story..

I contacted Talktalk and got a decent deal, guy i chatted to said he would contact O2 and get the switchover done for me, dandy! i thought, so left it for roughly 3 weeks, contacted O2 as i had one day left to cancel and wanted to make sure Talktalk was taking over. Guy at O2 tells me that nobody has contacted them about me switching over....so i get on the phone to talk talk and the lady tells me it is still all going through and i will be active on the 2nd, i asked her if i should cancel with O2 then as i only had 1 day left before i was dragged into a 12 month contract, she said this will be fine and they will still be able to take over.

Well i went ahead and contacted O2 and told them i wanted to cancel my contract with them. the women asked if i would like a MAC code but i said no as talktalk was going to switch me right over, she said something along the lines of "ah ok" yes short and sweet, i did ask her if this was ok, which she replied with a yes so i went ahead and got her to cancel it for the 2nd (when i went live with talktalk)

This was all roughly 2-3 weeks ago, ive of course not gone live and when i contacted talktalk they rejected my order....yet ive got 5 letters from them, stating the contract, the direct debit setup and my go live date...yet they said they sent me 2 letters telling me it had been canceled....they of course didnt...instead the letters they sent me (i still have) were telling me there may be a delay in setting me up but they are working on it.

So i contacted talk talk again and now they pass me back and forth between people, i get told im going to be contacted withing 48 hours....that was last week wednesday and hey ho ive not been contacted! i contacted them yesterday and was told i would have to wait untill wednesday this week as they are investigating it! i mean what the hell?

My line has now been switched off....and im going to now have to pay a hefty bill because talktalk managed to NOT take my broadband over...but ive got to ask whos fault is this? talktalks? O2s? one guy is telling me one thing, anouther is telling me something else?

Im tempted to tell them to shove it and just go back with sky phone and then get BE to connect my broadband...this is all a massive joke and ive now been without internet for a week sucks!

Plus this dongle top up bis is exspensive!

I'd tell them to shove it and go with another ISP, everyone I know who uses TalkTalk says it's rubbish.

TalkTalk suck, you've discovered this before even getting connected. Someone is trying to tell you something.

Pay more for a quality service or wait a few months until they prove just how poop they are and then spend two years trying to get your money back.

You get what you pay for, they are cheap because they have limited/poor support staff who don't know what they're doing and a poorly maintained network.

if you love call centres in god knows here, charging more than they should on a set tariff, provide the worst router ever, then yes go for talktalk.

If you're happy with your service so far, then fair enough. Personally, I'd be out of there as soon as possible.

You're struggling to get it working, never-mind matching it.

It sounds like when you nuked your line with O2, they passed the information over to get the line cut off (standard procedure). TalkTalk have no line to 'take over' at this point, and I'm putting money on that you'll get passed back and forth between TalkTalk (who are incompetent) and O2 (who have done nothing wrong here).

The reason the O2 rep didn't argue with you is because you mentioned TalkTalk. Companies like O2 know that for the most part, the type of people who go for TalkTalk have little understanding of the service behind the scenes and the low price is all you are interested in. They are typically your older X-Factor watching generation (hence their adverts being placed there) who don't have much, if any technical know how (this isn't a dig - it's simply their main demographic)

I speak from experience of helping many of the older generation in my area with Internet issues - TalkTalk are crap. Their low price comes at a much higher cost when things go wrong, as you're finding out.

    Re: Help with Talktalk....great!

So....i've just spoken to a rep called jamie who actually knew what he was on about, turns out the problem is not to do with talk talk but BT openreach (it think) they will not allow TalkTalk to take the line.....why? no one knows at the moment, however the TalkTalk rep believes that it may be down to my number change before leaving O2.

He has promised that if he cannot get it sorted out in a timely manner he will be happy to help me get it all cancelled and move me over to someone else, odd i know maybe he was just saying this.

He also said i will get compensated for the issues im having at the moment, so giving the benifit of this i guess i have no choice really.

If i did cancel it with TalkTalk then i'd be well and truly screwed, it would then mean i would have to payout for my line to be reconnected which if i'm correct is about £120 right? so i'd be in alot of bother if i left...

I just wish i never left O2 in the first place on my orginal contract with no Capping

What is your thoughts on this chaps?
