It mentions both ICH8 and ICH9, so I guess it's a case of (very) bad proofreading. As for waiting to see, it depends how long really. I've got to get the stuff bought in 3 weeks when the money rolls in, or it'll just automagically disappear, like it always seems to do.

Lower down, it says exactly the same again, but with ich9r instead, so it looks like a mistake.

Also, near the top of the manual, it says 2 x 16 pcie (blue 1x 16, black 4x or 1x), which is different to the 8x 2 that Ive seen mentioned elsewhere.

I also want to know if the other pci-e slot will do 16x on its own, as that might change things a bit as far as the blocked sata ports are concerned.

I wouldn't get my hopes up on, as the #2 slots are generally limited electrically. I don't think you can shift channels between the two dynamically.

Im still sure that both do support 16x, isnt there anyway of testing? I guess with ur watercooling its not that easy to keep swapping positions..

When I change cases next, Ill try it out, unless someone else that has one with air cooling can try it?

I wonder if the slot would even run at 16x with a card that doesnt require that much...I could take out the gtx and put a 6200 in the other slot for testing..might work?

Yeah, wudn't it be possible to try it in the 1st slot then the 2nd with some kinda graphics benchmark test that gives u a score, then just compare the 2?

Yes, thats possible, and if you open cpuz, it tells you the pci-e link bandwidth.
