No mate, youll only lose the 2 sockets if you have an 8800gtx, and a big heatsink on the SB that stops the cables going to the left.

Also, if you can get normal sata cables with relatively small plugs on, that might work.

If anyone wants to send me one, ill give it a go and do pics.

How long is the GTX?.. I wasn't able to fit my X-Fi below my GTS because the back end of the card would have cut off some of it's airflow

Its about an inch longer than the width of the motherboard. Pic with different board.

Pretty impressive results esp. with early bios. Any idea when X38 is due?

Going to be getting an X38 based motherboard when they come out?

I too tried to plant a money tree (Clunkus Megadoshus) in the garden but it just withered and died!

Have you seen what Scan are asking for pre-ordering a 'mere' P5K3 mobo? Add some of that bleeding edge DDR3 RAM and you'd better hope for a bumper crop off that tree in July. At least you will get 2 x 16 PCIe 2.0 slots for a pair of Crossfired HD2900XT Radeons so graphics performance may even approach GTX levels!

I think the smart money will wait for the Eaglelake mobos due Q2 2008. These will have PCIe 2.0 and DDR2 compatibility although you'll no longer have anywhere to plug in a PS/2 connector

In the meantime, you can put your name down for an X38 at any high street branch of "I saw you coming"
Apparently, "Do whatever you like" should NOT be considered authorisation to build my uber rig!

That p5k3 on the scan website includes some DDR3. Thats why the price is so high.

Yay, first post and all that....

Just wondering if someone, anyone, have checked or might bother to check if the new ICH9R has an array expansion function for RAID 5 arrays? I'm about to build a new system, but Intel's support staff won't tell since apparently the chipset hasn't been officially released yet. Which makes great sense considering we can buy the boards....

Anyway, I'd dearly like to have the possibility of easily expanding the raid 5 array without going for a 680i solution, which seems too fraught with memory compatibility problems at the moment.

If somebody knows the answer or can find out, I'd include him/her in my evening prayers for at least the next 8-9 years, maybe even a bit longer!

The best bit of advice I can give you is to avoid onboard RAID like the plauge, they are feature and performance crippled overglorified SATA controllers with a dumb BIOS slapped on with bad inter-OS compatibility due to the fact that everything is done on the CPU (via windows only drivers), if you want enterprise RAID features like online expansion then you need to buy a proper RAID card.
