I'm a big Battle Royale fan - the film is terrific and when I first read The Hunger Games I couldn't help but think it was a total rip-off. Have to admit that I enjoyed The Hunger Games books though.

Battle Royale also has a book - check it out if you're a reader!

The last film I watched was Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. Wasn't expecting to enjoy it so much but I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

Got left to my own devices on friday so had man-day...which involved action film, curry and lager

Went to see the new robocop. Wasn't bad at all. I was a big fan of the original film but this one stood up to it i thought
if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

Watched Turbo last weekend. It was OK. Pretty formulaic underdog does good movie, with the extra unbelievability that the protagonist is a snail. Who wants to race in the Indy 500...6/10.

Popcorn: Morrison's, 1 packet Salted, one Sweet. Mixed together. Not as good as the all-together one they do. 4/10

Finally got round to watching Gravity (in 2D).

What a load of garbage that was. Could barely keep myself awake towards the end. There were a few good points, I was impressed with the sound design. But really not worth all the praise it got, in my opinion.

Throwback movie - saw the 80's comedy/drama Twins (Schwarzenegger & Devito). Not bad after all these years. Quite cheesy in parts but doesn't take itself too seriously (love it when Arnie pokes fun at Stallone by comparing biceps with a poster) and has a lot of charm. It's hard not to sit down and just enjoy the movie. Decent way to pass an hour and a half.

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?

Friday night was Quartet, about a bunch of retired musicians in a nursing home. I wasn't expecting much (wife's choice) but I was pleasantly surprised. Good storyline and Billy Connolly was funny as a gent whose stroke had caused a loss of inhibitions...

Saturday was Total Recall from 2012. I wasn't expecting much but again was pleasantly surprised. Colin Farrell was quite good in the Arnie role, and you still get the 3-breasted mutant, so wins all round.

Lego Movie... really enjoyed it! and the 3d system crapped out in the last 5 minutes (the picture went and odd red in one eye, green in the other... but if you reversed the glasses it didnt...) so had to watch without glasses.. a bit blurry. BUT we got free tickets to any other 3d movie. Saving for GODZILLA~!!

Re: Your most recently watched movie/film?

Watched Gravity last weekend, beautiful to look at, but as a physics student, the fact that the tensest moment in the film should have been a non-issue was rather dissapointing and rather soured the whole affair for me

Last film I watched was Gravity. For it being great Eye Candy 9/10 but the storyline was really weak and dragged it down a lot. Found it to be a glorified tech demo
