Re: Your broadband speed - post here

At home, on Virgin's cheapest Big Bundle (Big Easy), recently upgraded from "up to 30Mb" to "up to 50Mb", I'm actually getting 54Mbps down and 2.65Mbps up (15ms ping). That's with a wired connection to an original generation SuperHub.

At work, our main connection via the corporate LAN is 16Mbps up and down (28ms ping). The Wi-Fi connection, which goes via a separate Virgin Media business ADSL line, is 6Mbps down and only 300Kbps up (35ms ping). That slow upload is the killer really, especially when the connection is shared between 50 people (although probably no more than 5-10 simultaneous users).

Has anyone used Hyperoptic here and can comment on the quality of service? Been with VM for a while, but I use a lot of cloud storage so upload speeds are an issue.

All the way to the US. Not too bad, especially seeing as I'm on VM's 100MBit plan. Still don't like those pings.

70 down and 20 up on BT Infinity.

Until G.INP was enabled a couple of weeks ago it was 63 down.

Re: Your broadband speed - post here

VM 152/12 with a self-built pfSense / FreeBSD hardware firewall/router/wireless N AP. We have a great connection and regularly see closer to 160/13 thanks to the added overhead from VM (modems are set to connect at 162 to ensure those on poorer connections get closer to the 152 they're paying for).

Cool to see that G.INP is actually delivering some real world increases, hope i will see the same bump up.

I think the degree you'll see a benefit, if you will at all, is dependent on your hardware. Using the HH5 I was getting about 65Mbps but moving back to the HG612 modem gives a nice sync rate boost to 70Mbps.

My upstream hasn't changed either way, it's still at 19,999Kbps.
