    Re: Your broadband speed - post here

    I received the ethernet cable over the weekend. Seems that the wireless was coping well, only a slight improvement

    I gathered the courage to use my x-ray vision and had a look at the masterbox. Yes BT, it wasn't me...

    Behind the faceplace is, or looks like a pcb, that plugs directly into the test socket. Cannot find the orange bell wire, or is this inside the telephone cable that leads to the ADSL/telephone filter box? Do I need to unscrew the test socket housing to see the belwire?

    uhmm, I also noticed that my server has changed. Is it the testing server or something to do with the broadband?

    That is disgusting.
    Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
    CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."

    for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Your broadband speed - post here

    Good old rural internet. The speeds don't bother me, it's the constant drop-outs (the past few weeks I get 5 mins at best before the connection drops).

    By contrast, this is what I get over Three's HSDPA network;

    Been quite tempted to get rid of the landline lately. Only thing holding me back is data allowance, the maximum is 15GB for £15.99 a month. I'd want 25GB, minimum. I don't mind being charged £20-£25 for it, but any less and I'll wind up running over (Steam updates and downloads mostly, plus the odd video on iPlayer/4oD).

    Thinkbroadband gives a similar reading but a higher upload speed (about 0.37Mbps).

    All in all quite pleased with IDNet - was only getting about 1.3-1.7Mbps a year or so ago, and I consider anything above 1.5 to be good out here in the Herefordshire countryside. Have noticed that my SNR margin is quite low though (5.1dB) - I'm wondering if that could be improved.

    Gotta say tends to be a bit hit and miss depending on which server I use. London always good for me but the one speedtest.net recommends i get

    Thats actually on of the better results from Manchester.
