P5206 marks which I am amazed at. Its also proven a point that the my CPU really really needs to be upgraded to allow the 6870's to breathe. In all the benchmarks, my cpu was at 100% and the gpu's at around 60-80%.

System is E8400 at 3.6ghz. 4gb Ram, 6870 CF, 60Gb SSD and another 9 hard drives in various arrays.

Not even sure if it'll take it but that said, the cpu doesn't hit 40 degrees at the moment so there is room. In my eyes, it is time for a full cpu upgrade as I can pass this lot onto my housemate and upgrade him from a p4.

If you look at the results, the cpu benchmark is under 10fps average and the combined one is not that much over 10fps. I think that would of have a big impact of the score.

Re: hexus 3Dmark11 charts - who has got the fastest pc?

I did a couple of runs with different configurations:

    3.21GHz, 675/1350/3600 - 3106
    3.21GHz, 675/1350/3600 SLI - 5542 (78.42% SLI scaling)
    3.21GHz, 750/1500/4000 SLI - 6057 (9.29% performance increase for 11.1% clock increase)
    3.21GHz, 800/1600/4000 SLI - 6355 (4.67% performance increase for 4.44% clock increase)

    3.58GHz, 675/1350/3600 SLI - 5595 (0.1% performance increase for 11.5% CPU clock increase)
    3.58GHz, 800/1600/4000 SLI - 6417

    4.01GHz, 810/1620/4010 SLI - 6528
    4.01GHz, 850/1700/4200 SLI - 6821 http://3dmark.com/3dm11/471126

Thats a 23% difference resuling from a 25% CPU increase and a 23% GPU increase.

I did the last run with GPU fan speeds manually fixed to 70% and case fans at 90%, but to get the CPU past the usual 3.8 @ 1.3V (where it prime95s at about 95C), I took the sides off the case and the 4.0GHz @ 1.35V didn't exceed 85C. Was rather pleased with that. I would be fairly confident of cracking 7000 if I was to rebuild into the old Antec 300; 4.3GHz, 875/1750/4300 - Easter project.

Specs: as left, with above clocks.

For nibblers points per £ chart:

    CPU: c. £210
    RAM: c. £135
    GPU: c. £280
    Mobo: c. £165

Cheers! I was half temped to try and up the voltage on the cards to see what happened but I felt that might be pushing my luck a bit.

Ooooh. An e-peen wangling competition! Wish I'd still got my w/c i7 970/dual 480's @ 850/2200 rig up and running instead of in bits. It's been 3 weeks now and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.... must play Just Cause 2.......

Don't suppose any of you who don't currently fold would entertain the notion of joining us in our quest for world domination.

I'll dig the camera out and see if I can get a few shots posted up later.

It is actually a 3XS build which I have since added a little bit to:

After A-levels I wanted to treat myself but was also mindful of going to university, so I opted for a mATX build which could be transported home on the train and carried through the city at the end of term, hence the V351. I was (and still do) a fair amount with VMs so wanted more than 4GB of RAM, but 8GB was still quite expensive at this point which was essentially the peak of RAM prices recently. Accordingly, I settled on X58 - plus I wanted 8 threads - which meant the only real option for the motherboard was the Rampage II Gene. Both it and the i7 920 were approaching End of Life at this point so were quite cheap. With hindsight however, an i7 860 would have been a better choice due to the lower TDP but I was blinded by the allure of X58. Graphics wise, it was originally going to be Xfire 5770s, but the GTX460 came out mid-build so I added that in. The choice of 768MB versions was partly cost and partly the lower idle temperature, but mostly cost. The only other challenge was selecting a suitable cooler; I was hoping a Freezer 7 Pro would fit but was 3cm too tall, while all the low profile ones seemed too feeble. The H-50 was an option but the case would have required modding which Scan didn't want so I dug around on the internet and found an example of the U9B SE2 being used in such a case - so I went with that.

It all arrived in August last year and I was very impressed - credit to Scan for the cable management. Unfortunately the two Palit (or maybe Gainwood) 460s threw a wobbly after a few weeks so it had to go back and have them swapped out for EVGA's, at which time it also had the exhaust fan replaced with the Noctua (took 5C off the CPU temps which in turn allowed 3.2 instead of the 3.05 it shipped with), the 96GB Vertex added (again EOL at the time so cheap but largish SSD) and a Lian Li CR-36B card reader was also added, which I now wish I hadn't bothered with.

Earlier this week I saw 12GB of Mushkin Blackline going for £128 so snapped that up with visions of running 18GB 1600MHz CAS9 but the Mushkin is about 2mm too tall to fit in the last slot, so now I just run the 12GB.

I do actually fold on one GPU plus run the basic CPU client, so I may as well join rather than go it solo. Do your previous WUs carry across?

Definitely join us! I think that the previous ones weren't submitted under the team number 69776 so they won't be carried over, but your total points as a user won't reset or anything.
