Now,I have to wait for a new power plug and power on cable. The builds still needs some tidying up!!

any reason your not using the original shuttle psu ?, I have a spare 250w practically unused one from my SG31G2 from when I upgraded it to a 300W one

Bagnaj97 managed to shoe-horn a mini-ITX rig into a smaller box with a 9800GT too.

The RAM would have clashed with it(I know)! I have a 250W which came with my SN41G2 which is pretty old. It works but I would eventually have to replace it anyway.

Anyway,the HX520W was doing nought ATM so I thought I would try it out!

Hahaha, this is brilliant!

You're going to get some horrendous vibration noise from that drive I suspect though.

double sided padded tape, could end up quieter than a screwed in PSU

I intend to sell the SX48 and migrate the 2600K, SSD and mem to a ITX P67 board when available and Sugo SG07. Or if they never appear in ITX form a Tower.

The PSU is not screwed in but sort of suspended in the case. However,I managed to fit the hard disk in the cage now.

IIRC,Shuttle are making noises about selling the cases only which would be a good move especially since the newer ones can mount mini-ITX motherboards:

The SG07 is a nice case but cable management could be better and I think it could look better. The Lian Li Q08 is a nicer design IMHO but somewhat taller.

That's a pretty insane build you've got there CAT

If you want help modding it for a better fit there's a few things you can do.

Question do you intend having a dvd drive?
The shuttle drive cage is designed for 1x 5.25" drive and 2x 3.5" drives but if you're only planning to use a single 3.5" hard drive then that's eating up quite a bit of space.

I'd rotate the psu so the cables are coming out of the same side as required by the motherboard, instead of having to cross it.
Customising the 24pin and 4pin to length will greatly reduce cabling issues too although it will limit possible resale value and reuse in other builds for it.

Also you'll probably want a right angled IEC power plug and a socket so you can run the power lead in at the back

You can then run a length of cable through the case from the psu to the back like they do on the Silverstone SG07

EDIT: Almost forgot, I may be doing a new build soon and I was looking at that gigabyte motherboard and an i3 2120 in a Lian Li PC-Q07, what do you think of it CAT?

A DVD drive won't fit but I have an external drive which will have to do the job. ATM,I am using an old 250GB SATA drive.

I thought of mounting the hard disk on top of the PSU but there isn't enough height for the case.

Maybe I need to think of some way of mounting the drive without the tray.

That would make more sense! TBH,the HX520W was lying around doing nothing since my other computer went kaput so I thought I would give it a go! OTH,the system weighs a relative metric **** tonne when compared to its previous incarnation!

they have been saying that for years, i will believe is when ebuyer/scan sell one sans-motherboard, or even when they they are selling one specifying it will take an m-itx mobo, but would prefer a case on its own because i love shuttle cases and this will force them to, basically, sell them at a fair price

The new cases have mounts for a mini-ITX motherboard but sadly you still need to but it with a Shuttle motherboard.

that just means markup, and its only every blue mood shuttle make a barebone where you think "hey, that is actually descent value" last one i saw personally was the SN45G2, £120 for case, mobo, psu at what was at the time cutting edge stuff. the K45 for £100 was a bit iffy but i /needed/ something SFF while still taking 2 HDD's so it won me over.

want a shuttle or a custom build to roughly the same dimensions next time, would be bloody good for the old LAN - 1 2.5" SSD, 1 3.5" HDD, 10" or so GFX, enough cooling to give a bit of OC naturally...

and i am describing a Silverstone SG05B case... interested to see how shuttle can improve on that - they have immense bespoke PSU's that seem to work past their specified wattage so it isnt out of the question

last lian li i looked at was that really tall mess with, of all things, a full size 5.25" drive bay at the top.. nonono ill pay extra and get a slim drive!!

the SG05 was around £60 at one point, no way can they justify that even after VAT going up etc
