    Re: World of Tanks

I'm quite happy sitting at T5 and working towards pimping out my machines there (Pz.IV, Hummel and the SU-85 when I get there, unless it turns out to be rubbish). Also keep a pimped out BT-2 as that's quite fun as well. 100% crew and modules can make a big difference.

It is a grind, because the piss poor match making system makes battles a chore, rather than fun. It's not fun when it takes zero skill for opponents to one shot you when you can't see them.

I would be happy playing a T1 tank all the time, if it was only ever matched up against other T1 tanks. There is no fun playing the game where you are in T4/5 and getting CONSTANTLY matched against T7 that you can't do ANYTHING against.

Every battle is different for me, some days it can be miserable if your team is clueless but a couple of minutes wait and a new team can mean a real strategic gem.
You enjoy being one shot by invisible higher tier tanks? Sorry, but are you sadistic?

Combine that with the fact I'm not play WoT solidly to grind, I don't have a huge amount of time to play games so it's nice to think I've got ten minutes to spare and have a quick punt at p****ing some heavies off with my sneaky full camo TD.
What tier are you playing in? It seems to me that the only people I know who are really enjoying this game put loads of money into buying gold and have bought their way up the tiers. They are all being matched against equal and lower tier tanks so they are having fun, those of us who haven't spent a lot of their hard earned are having to fight them in their higher tier tanks and are not standing a chance.

Seriously, why do you fight a tank that is higher than your own tier anyway? If you see them, don't even allow them to point their barrel towards you and run for you life/wait for tanks to swarm it. 1 on 1 against higher tier tanks are not winnable (assuming all hits penetrate and cause no module damage).

Btw, anyone had fun with the Tiger yet? Must be fun to have fires and crippling module damage almost every game...

    Re: World of Tanks

I've not yet got to the tiger, still plugging away at my VK3601 (the one before, has a tiger turret, it's a bit like a tiger lite) the constant tracking is really my off.
It's like being in the A20 in beta, in that any hit seems to track me, but unlike the A20 which can only take one hit the VK3601 can take quiet a few hits.
So far my record is being tracked 5 times in one battle and once 4 tracks and an engine damage, I managed to survive that one but was reduced to 11kph top speed.

I hate to say it but I do agree with allen, the balance system still needs a lot of work, it's ok to be a tier 3 tank if it's only one of two high tier tanks, but when the next highest tank is a tier 5 and your the only tier 3 tank on the field (not TD but tank) even tracking heavies is near impossible.
It's ok if there's arty to spot for, otherwise you can do very little, high tier tanks tend to be far more accurate than the low tier tanks which makes the speed of a low tier tank far less useful.
The medium tanks at tier 4 are far better than the light because they can mount guns that have enough pen to hurt higher tier tanks.

Just last week it was much easier than now as there where far fewer tier 6-7 tanks about so as tier 3-4 your main worry was tier 4-5 (mainly KV's and T1's)

Teaming up with others does make the game far more fun, if you're playing solo it does make the game far more gindy.

I agree that the next tank is not the be all and end all, however at the same time getting to a tank that has a slight "hope in hell" of being able to do something is important.
Tier 3 is a real tough spot because you can end up against tier5 which may not seem like much but most tier5 you can do nothing to, where as a tier 5 can damage a tier7.
And tier4 is a really nasty spot for the light tanks, the medium tier4's get guns which can hit above their tier.

I don't agree about the gold thing, I've not exchanged gold for credits or free xp, however the premium tanks can be real credit earners which have helped a lot of people get past the lower tiers faster.
Also a 100% crew does have a big impact and spending gold to get them there is the best way, grinding the last 10% from 90 to 100% is a real time consumer.

Because sometimes you don't get the choice of who you're fighting, especially when you can't see them. Or you see them and your memory can't recall which of the tiers each tank in the game is in...

At the moment, my games consist of being in the lowest tier in the match and just running head long into the enemy group hoping to spot a few before being killed or holding back and hoping to hear the old "that one didn't go through" or "we just dinged them" a few times before being killed. Very rarely am I at the top in my KV-3 but with no upgrades it's no different from being the lowest tier which means gaining exp to unlock the gear will take hours of drudgery just to be able to fight back.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game, I just find the extreme grind far too much, even with a premium account.

BTW, if I stood a chance, it wouldn't be a grind.

what are the chances of the patch thats coming out soon to be addressing the balancing issues?

btw talking of balancing, how fair does this sound to you?

11 hit the target and only 2 kills :@

    Re: World of Tanks

Depends which gun you're using, if you where using the starting 76 mm KT-28 then that's damb impressive.
If you're using the 85mm F30 then that's not good.

The fact that all the tanks you've damaged/killed are tier4-5 shows you did well for that tank.
Also the fact that in the spotted catagory there's also tier 3 tanks, shows that you where fairly well balanced and placed.
Your team might of lost but through no fault of yours.

Considering that you are using a premium account and have only 359 average exp (global average is 500 but with premium or without?), you should practise more and improve your skills rather than blame the tanks you're driving (Russians tanks are supposed to be the most user friendly?). The German/US lines can be even worse due to tank layout and guns they have access to.

Thats pretty unfair. Don't forget tier is proportional to XP and silver. No one I play with has anywhere near 500. I have sub 200 and I'm not completely gash my failure in a PzII, PzII A, okay the list goes on.....

TBH, the German medium line is a pain for me, too. You don't get any big guns until you reach Pz4.
Pz3 - T28 has 85mm, M3 Lee has fast reloading and very accurate (for it's tier anyway) 75mm gun. The short 75mm is only good for HE (US/Russia gets a similar gun at tier 3) and the long 50mm doesn't have enough penetration.
Pz3a - Horrible selection of guns for it's tier (see above)

For all those wondering how to make xp in light tanks in a heavy match

    here's how

That was done in a M5 stuart, un-upgraded, all I did was leg it to a bush, hide and wait.
Didn't shoot just hid and let everything roll past showing it up for the rest of the team to kill.
Granted I didn't get many games like that, but it's great when it works right.
