Hah! Join the club...except I've been playing since the closed beta, and I still die easily!
I think its a game which requires a lot of time commitment and patience to build up the XP and funds you need to get to the better tanks, and build the experience to get better.
I don't have that time, I dip in and out on occasion, and usual get my rear-end handed to me pretty quickly.

    Re: World of Tanks

It gets better at tier 5 (as far as I have got) where you get a chance to be higher up the roster. You should be making 8-10k a game for a victory and 4-6k for a loss.

I think you need to choose you tanks carefully and play to their strengths.

Although mentioning that I was stuck in a tier 9 game last night with on a tier 5 tank. Managed to get the killing shots on a couple of 704s and a tiger.

EDIT: We need to try and get the Hexus channel running again; if you search and its not there could you start it?

Dunno if it'll be much help, but I've done a bit of a starting guide (plus a second part) covering some of the basics; if that's too long, the Reader's Digest condensed version is: hide in a bush and shoot the red dudes...

Yeah I was just thinking that after seeing some tier 9s recently (a month after the wipe) that some people must play this like a full time job. I find it astonishing that people have the time. Must be nice to have that kind of time on your hands

    Re: World of Tanks

I'm in my old clan LLOD
we're trying to sort stuff out to give clan wars a go but something tell me it's going to be very painful.
As most of us only have tier 5 or 6 as our highest.

You need the following for clan wars, 11 people in a clan all with tier 5 tanks as minimum.

However there is no restriction so you could end up against 14 tier 10 tanks
I think this is the reason for the two new tier 8 premium tanks.

If you going to try clan wars be prepaired....

There is no tier limitations in the clan wars so you will possibly face a full team of tier 10 tanks and tier 8 artys

    Re: World of Tanks

Those 2 T8 premium tanks are kinda... a waste of money. You get a lot more credits per battle but you need to convert the exp you gain into free exp with gold so it's going to cost you even more.

Agreed - also it's about £22 or so to buy it? You can buy a new game for that. Seems to be way overpriced IMO. Seen lots of them around so apparently more than a few people disagree with me on that.
I'm only just up to the T7 US heavy, T29. Just recently unlocked it but I'm about a million credits short to buy it! (600k once I sell the M6)
Should not have bought that toolbox...

Also not very impressed with the German mediums and their paper armour - went back to the Russian lights to work my way up as their mediums look much better.

    Re: World of Tanks

You should be getting up to 150k/battle with the lowe. Admittadly the free XP is no use but as a money maker.....

PzIV with the L/70 is a blast to play and a good money maker; the 3001 etc look a little light admittedly. Trying the VK3601 which is okay but crippled by a lack of decent guns until the short 88 (not there yet and even then it lacks some penetration). Saving up to get the Hummel (unlocked) atm from the PzIV.

    Re: World of Tanks

Premium tanks are only there to generate credits when you're ready for a new tank. For instance I'm working my way towards getting my Ferdinand but I know full well just from doing the math that I will have the XP in my Jagdpanther long before I have the credits so I'll switch to my medium-package premium tank and make the credits for it there instead once I have enough XP.

Believe me, it gets expensive running the highest tier tanks....get smashed up a few times and a good handful of losses and you can find yourself having to switch out to a premium just to be able to afford to repair your Jagdtiger etc.
