I assume you've junked star citizen? Welcome commander Ttaskmaster!
Not junked... just bowing out of the whole beta/alpha/pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha thing until it works reasonably reliably and isn't full of gits wasting my time.
I was a big fan of CR's previous games, Starlancer and Freelancer especially, so I expect good things to come from this... just not enough to enjoy right now.
I believe it's "Commander Backer #22737", at least until the full release, heh heh!!
Downloading as we speak, so I have to wait until I get home from work. I'll definitely see you out there, though!!
Do I understand correctly that, if I make XYZ credits and buy ABC ship in the Solo play, those same assets will still be available to me in the Multiplayer version?
Ok, I've figured out how to group part works, if not fully I at least understand how to get people into the group.
First add me to your friends/contacts list: KeyboardDemon
Once we are friends you request to join the group from the groups menu.
All Hexus members are welcome, we have five members at the moment, the more the merrier.
You can set your commander name here, just login with the Elite Dangerous details, and request a new commander name

Any hints on release date yet? Tempted with the £35 pre order.
Anyone else thinking that Sept 20th will be the release of Beta 2.0? That's the 30th anniversary of Elite... Fingers crossed!
Oh... that was just a made-up number for the purposes of the post... sorry!!
My real one was something similar, but not yet memorised.
I seem to have the hang of most controls. I've jumped to various systems, used Framedrive (and overshot my destination), gotten stuck and had to dump my cargo because I could no longer jump with the increased mass... stuff like that.
I did manage to accrue Cr7,000 worth of fines on my first mission, though... Had to go find 5 Federation ships and kill them, but they were somwhere across two different systems. Not sure if it was specific ships, or any old but I bummed around and killed more than double the quota. I didn't see any flag-up about completing the mission, so I guess they weren't the right Fed ships?
I think I mainly need to focus on remembering the little tricks (landing gear deployed *before* trying to land, etc) and not dying every time I encounter someone in a fight!!

Beta update 1.05 will be available shortly (it may take up to 30 minutes to propagate). The following changes are contained in the update:
- Event scenarios added
- New black markets added
- Phase transition timing telemetry added
- When a wake times out, don't release the (already released earlier) island hook, and so don't lose your current island and drop out of your session
- When sending a naked SEQ, remember it incase we need to resend - fixes some random disconnections
- Fix a bug in LetterSchedulingRecord - was not taking Level into account if Urgency was 1.0
- Fix calculation of available space for fragmenting letters
- When forking authority use the 'object appears in new session' mechanism to broadcast forkage.
- Fix for null machine being removed from session
- Adding a new set of mirrored hardpoint doors to fix UV issues WRT to paintjobs
- Removing a random bunch of emmissive polys in one of the hardpoint openings
- Added three skins for the Pirate NPC's
- Cobra Mk III art updates
- Ensure that m_lettersReservedForLater is cleared when a machine disconnects
- When counting repeated ACKs, count the ACKs actually sent in response to a repeated SEQ number
- Verify coordinates before sending a ClaimIsland or UpdateIsland call
- Protect server against invalid data in UpdateIsland
Better be better then 1.04..... it would run but clicking on any menus in the game did nowt >_<
1.06 now - fixes an issue with owning a Cobra!
Quite literally there was a crash if you owned a Cobra on game load - total showstopper. So 1.06 is a quick hot fix for that issue alone.
Managed to get a bit of play in last night - my scavenging is proving rather profitable, made about £80k in an hour. The Hauler isn't actually half as bad as I was expecting. Sure it's fairly slow and no match for most ships in a straight 1v1, there are times when you can piggy back onto a fight and hold your own. I'm running a C2 cannon, which allows me to put full pips on shields, and two on engines. This way you've still got speed and resilience, whilst being able to deliver a surprising punch to anyone. I was looking for abandoned cargo around Freeport and bumped into a Lakon 6 who was under attack by a Sidewinder. The Sidewinder turned on me as well, but three cannon hits took him down to 8% hull and he scarpered. I'll be using the Hauler a little longer then I think but I'm eyeing up a Viper.
