Adam, when you say you are re-processing the shots, are you developing them from negatives or are you doing the re-processing digitally?

You can't redevelop the negatives, and I've never been much of a guy for printing, so it's a combination of rescanning and digital stuff. Playing with scans in DNG format is interesting - I'm used to a900 RAWs which are far more 'flexible' than even your a700 ones - colours just don't posterise until you've pushed them far too far and the dynamic range is huge. Scans don't have that, when you say bring up the blacks, rather than detail coming out, the grain comes out. When you process a digital RAW, it's like you control the contours of the image, you can pop out the trees, burn in the sky. With a film scan it's like someone's laid a big piece of paper over the image and you can only make changes through that.

thought i'd try the moon again last night, but clouds moved in and stopped play before i could get a great shot, but definitely improving
