    Re: Photo-a-day

Hurrah ! I finally had a good health and sunny day and was able to test drive my newly converted Nikon D70IR. Did three churches, but I stilll need some tweaking on the focus, and so only a few shots wewre usable, including this 1/90th ISO200 f11 on my Sigma 10-20 of St Andrews church at Great Billing, Northampton. Virtually zero PP, just a sharpening by 25%, no contrast changes !

    Cheers, David

Looks good, my only thought would be (and I don't really know if it works the same for IR) that you've blown the highlights in the leaves at the base of the tree.

no blown highlights at the base of the tree - perhaps your brightness is too high on your screen?

saying that, most of the dramatic IR landscapes do have blown highlights and are very contrasty > http://www.pbase.com/brucemburton/im...5344/large.jpg

You're probably right to be honest. I forget when viewing at work that this monitor is nothing special and I've never calibrated it (in fact I wouldn't even know how to calibrate it).

I'm no pro, but I do think that it could somehow do with some work on her back - the mans hand pushing her skin over her bra strap makes her look a bit fat imo.

First time out with my 300mm, at Potteric Carr

    Its a good shot.

    Like the IR Dave

This isn't IR - quitie contrasty - trees in thick hoar frost getting hit by sunlight as the mist lifted.

Quite bad banding on that, Bobster - but very passable at such high ISO!

How's it look printed - any better?

pretty bad, need cleaning up before could go larger than a 9x6, possible black and white to help smooth over the noise.. i guess its better than ASA1600 in a national geographic from the 80's

the whole lack of direct light on him really doesnt help..
