(okay, photozone are ALWAYS critical, but I like them for it!).

The sigma is attractive because of its price point. Sure it lacks weather sealing, and if your body lacks stablisation, it lacks that too. But it doesn't look too shabby, and did I mention the price point... Based on paper (and my initial attempt to 'call' it) it should cost a heck of a lot more.

It's about sensor size Josh. See my previous thread.

The smaller the sensor, the larger the aperture needs to be to get the same shot.

On APS-C if you want a shallow DoF you need either wider apature, or change your distance to subject / focal length.

i've heard diffirently. the 24-70 is as good as the 70-200f2.8mk2(which is regarded as the sharpest and best canon lens they ever made)

i know that. That is why the 24-70 is kind of like teh equivalent to that new sigma lens as FF has extra stop in Apparture.

F/2.8 is the same as f/1.8 on a 1.6x crop sensor. The only difference is FF will be at a higher ISO for the same exposure (which is almost equally balanced by the larger photosites, all other things being equal. We like to go on about numbers, but at the end of the day physics is pretty constant )

Indeed - the sigma is a nice third party lens, that's what they're good at. J.o.s.h. wanted a FF equivalent for his Canon.. the lens I linked is one of them If you go FF then you can expect a premium anyway

    Re: Photo-a-day

cyclist doesn't do anything for me tbh :/ slower shutter and panning would have been nice..

the hot grass #2 in the bottom half detracts from the rest of the image, my eye is always drawn to it away from the rest of the image - and the jaunty angle because?

the tube shot is ok, but would rather have seen the peoples face as well ..

I like the angle. makes the shot look different. not all shots are taken straight lol photography is an art. experiment!

i've never tried panning. gota test out the IS mode 2 which is for panning on a 70-200

Here is one for u bobby.

sure add angles if it "adds" to the photo, but it just looks like you were on a rough sea on a boat taking a photograph of a woman laying down..

headed into London last night to do some street photography
