will it fit? my nikon 50mm doesnt fit the tc but the 70-300 vr does. Or should I buy the tc14e?
    edit:
NVM found a review on amazon.com to say it does but the lens will be recongnised as a 300m at f4 rather than 420mm at 5.6

    Hello Bob,

I am going to RIAT this Sunday, I was wandering if you can give me some advice on what settings to use to shoot fast jets? I am guessing maybe using A mode, F6-8 and ISO 800 to 1600? It will be my first time using an slr at an airshow.

    Thanks

You gonna be using your 70-300? f/8 would be better suited for the quality - shutter speed will probably be around 1/400 at ISO400 (sunny) or 800+ with cloud - centre focus point, and tracking AF (not sure what it is on Nikon) - i only ever shoot M..

It may well be the 70-300.

I might get my 300mm f4 in time I so, should I use the lowest possible aperture or step down?

if its a sharp copy, no reason why you shouldn't shoot wide open

Once I receive my 300mm prime do you think I should sell it or keep the zoom as a backup lens? baring in mind i already have a sigma 150mm 2.8 prime coupled to a 1.4tc.

only you can decide that! i find my 70-200 way too useful to sell if i bought a say 200mm 2.8 or 400 5.6..

scratch the 180mm macro and just get some extension tubes - 30 quid on ebay

why Nikon 70-200? the Sigma version is just as good and cheaper

    Re: Photo-a-day

180mm shots look sharper than my 150mm. The main issue is it costs a lot lot lot more.

Didnt realise sigma had a 70-200. I will get it if it is just as good. At the top of my list is a new body D7200. Got the 300mm f4 today, really really struggled in low light (7PM) with the tc. Took a few photos of blackbirds, sparrows and goldfinches nothing worth sharing.

    Re: Photo-a-day

1600-3200 see example https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-N...o/DSC_0015.JPG didnt bring any support as it was just supposed a short trip, had to head home for dinner. exif data incorrectly showing f4, should be 5.6 . Max auto iso set to 1600, 1/60s was far too slow for 440mm handheld shot. I guess I will miss having VR. Will be going down to bushy park on Saturday then Riat on Sunday.

Are you using the sigma 70-200 to shoot fast jets?

    edit 2:
Just done some quick research on the sigma, very nearly as sharp and lacks weather sealing but its about £600 cheaper. Hopefully it will in bag by the end of this year. Currently priced at £627 from the same place I bought my 300mm versus £1220 for the nikon
