I don't know what the judges criteria would be. For me, it's not really one of your most impressive shots (which is meant to be a compliment on your usual work), nor does it do anything standout with the theme of red. But that's just me. No idea about the judges.

thanks all im going to try again today. I was just trying to emphasize the red lanterns of chinese new year, the chinese think red is lucky and the theme of the competition is red.

what didn't help is the "slow" shutter on the tassels for 1.. then there's the side of the building and the crane.

you're much better off going with multiple shots and compositing them together to clear the street.

So this may be final submission to the competition. I was not happy with it due the ghosting of the buses but a few people in the facebook photography group seem to like it. Spent several hours in the freezing cold in the afternoon, took a break in Starbucks and tried again when it got dark. This is how dedicated I am to my hobby.
