Deported? Not if they can still claim legal aid for a second appeal.. and a third.. Then all they have to do is pick a new name and escape their native country without any documents all over again, and all from the safety of Watford..Originally Posted by DaBeeeenster

You said it yourself mate, they were illegal... shouldn't have been here in the first place. But the scum who paid them a pound a day should have their testicles wrapped in cheese wire and hung from the nearest tree.Originally Posted by andybasford

Big_Al could you answer my questions please?
Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre was burnt down? Can you provide a link? Google has not heard of that piece of news...?
You haven't answered my question. How do you know that the people who you see "scrounging" are in the country illegally? Do you ask every one?

I'd say we had a problem with the perception of the problem.
One thing that winds me up is the constant interchange of "illegal immigrant" with "asylum seeker" with "migrant". It's absurd. I think people just see foreigners and then label them however way they please. That's what annoys me. How on earth do you tell whether someone is a member of any of the three above?

Sure, I'd agree with that - but do you believe there is a problem with the system ? I would personally say that the system is too open to abuse and not effective enough to deal with those whose claims are rejected, however that is an opinion based on what I see in the media everyday.Originally Posted by DaBeeeenster
Whats your thoughts ?
Ok, so I mad a slight mistake. I meant Yarls Wood not Harmondsworth. And I must have misread it or remembered it wrong from last year as it was Bedford not Bedfont. He's obviously too busy trying to prove me being wrong, not to take note of my points of view.Originally Posted by Skii
And no I don't ask everyone, are you mad? I wouldn't have the time! I talk to friends and family about it and gather my own opinions rather than get breast fed by newspapers and TV that is full of crap.

I dont feel well informed enough to provide an opinion really. I welcome legal working migrants and asylum seekers. Our country is rich enough to help the latter, and is in dire need of the former.Originally Posted by Skii
As for illegal immigrants, I really dont know what to believe. I think that certain sections of the media hype it up to sell copy, but what with the decreasing cost of international travel and ease of moving money around the world I think it is going to be an ever increasing problem.
Maybe a better solution to this reactionary "THROW THEM ALL OUT" is to work out why people are coming here in the first place and try to ensure that the they have a future in their country of origin, and consequently no reason to leave. The difficulty is that problems like that have no simple solutions, and so people dont bother with them, and resort to the "BURN THEM" mentality so well parodied in The Life of Brian

But how do they know? That's my entire point. There's no way of knowing unless you ask people. I mean, for all you know the nearby college could have started an exchange program with mature students at the local hospital. That's precisely my point.Originally Posted by Big_Al

hospital workers who had to treat him were made aware of it, it wasnt made public knowledge due to the data protection act which not only covers uk residents but foreign vistors as wellOriginally Posted by DaBeeeenster
