How many reports have you put in to TS?

You can understand why a shops own forum is not the best place to address the concern - RMA is best handled quietly via web support, while as Saracen says, TS will be able to pick up general trends far more than any individual could either from their own experiences or from browsing a forum (which never gives a representative sample).

once I've opened a thread in the scan forums but they got it deleted soon...nice way to deal with people.... (thumbs up)

I don't want to bash scan or anything, because overall they are the best, though they should keep an eye on products which were returned (keep an eye = don't send it to anyone else ;-)

anyway, I gotta go, because I spy 'Scan enforcement officers'
    ehhhhhhh

You were posting on behalf of someone else, who apparently has an issue. The offer is still there and if you send me the information required so we can confirm the fact, I will happily re-open the thread but up to now there is no evidence of an issue at all, which is why your thread was removed.

I understand your feedback and we have taken this on board, I understand you have been in contact with our Returns dept over this and a replacement HDD has been dispatched for you.

I can assure you this was not intentional but was human error. We are still investigating this to prevent this from happening again.

    Best Regards

    Smelly

I was advised of this matter when you originally contacted our Return team, I investigated the details and confirmed that the item was accidently re-stocked by a member of our Reception staff, it was due to be added to our b-grade stock.

Unfortunately we are all human and we can make errors from time to time, unfortunately for yourself this was one of those times, I can only apologise personally for the inconvenience caused.

I asked for the invoice number which I did not receive so far, so I'm not concerned about their issue anymore. They were too lazy to arrange an other collection after city-link failed to turn up for the PSU the first time.

And as I said in my thread, I did not create it to resolve a specific issue, but to highlight a flaw in your system, hence giving you the opportunity to make it better without the involvement of the trading standards.

You haven't highlighted anything yet, you have just created a post... We don't have the opportunity to " make it better " because we have no information to confirm this apparent issue, find out where it happened and why, so we can resolve it.

Threatening involvement of Trading Standards is pointless, feel free to contact them if you want to, they will ask for the same information as we are to investigate the issue and as you have not given us the opportunity to look into this apparent issue there is nothing we can do at the moment.

    To the guys from Scan,

Thank you for your responses, this was never a post about bashing Scan or indeed your customer service which is still superb. I will not be talking to Trading Standards or anyone else regarding this.

I was just concerned that data on a HDD could be mis-managed in a way like this - no matter how innocently.

I agree that with a stock room which is as huge as yours with all the transactions going through the occasional mistake can be made. In my eyes this issue has been handled very quickly and I'm happy with the outcome and I'm not complaining.

ahhh, I don't really have time for this pointless conversation. it seems you're missing the point.

and yes it is an issue, if it wouldn't be an issue then nobody would have received used items.

btw, it was far from threatening ;-)

Re: sold a hard drive wih data on from Scan

    ehhhhhhh

I don't believe I am missing the point at all.

    1) You created a post in the SCAN section pretty much accusing us of intentionally sending out faulty goods and an apparent pattern of such action.

    2) I replied in 3 minutes asking for the customer with the issue to contact us so we can resolve this.

    3) You replied 6 day's later telling me there was an issue with a particular PSU and to check who handles them - We keep hundreds in stock and we have many pickers so narrowing down an issue with only this information is impossible. You also confirmed you would send the invoice number through to me, which never arrived.

At the moment we have no facts to comment specifically upon and you seem to make a lot of sweeping statements without any facts to back up your points. I personally don't believe there is an issue and if there were there is no interest shown by you to help us to resolve this issue you clearly feel strongly about as your are posting on behalf of someone else.

If there is a problem help us to help you / your friend.

    Regards

You can copy the mentioned post by all means, I did not accused you of this...it was a friendly post which meant something like this: "hey guys, I noticed a pattern which lead me to think that you have a flaw in your system which allows faulty goods to be sent out to customers. I'm posting this so you might find the cause and resolve it."

You can describe it as anything, but accusing or threatening!

again, quote it if you want.

Nothing wrong with this, I believe I did mention that scan's customer service is brilliant and fortunately they resolve everything in a friendly manner.

Yes, and as I mentioned I did not receive the invoice number from my friend....they managed to schedule a collection for the faulty PSU, but city-link did not turn up and AFAIK they did not bother to schedule an other collection....again....I do not care about this.

purely nonsense. I'm not sure why do you have this attitude towards me. All I wanted is to HELP scan to identify the source of a problem and solve it!

    and to provide facts:

    invoice number: E1360791

DFI mainboard - I got it broken, missing cables, used condition....it was a while back...and it was mine (I have pictures too ;-)

for the other ones, If you don't mind I won't bother my friends, etc to provide me the invoice numbers....I asked once, they forgot it...that's all...I have better things to do.

Re: sold a hard drive wih data on from Scan

You full post is below, quoting there is a pattern of faulty goods being sent out from SCAN.

I have found an interesting pattern... every time I recommend scan to a friend, you ship faulty and second hand like products? why is that?

And it cannot be pinned on the couriers because it arrives in proper scan packaging, but the original box is damaged inside so is the product.

If I order it for myself, then everything's ok....

    it's starting to become embarrassing...

(BTW, You should check who interacted with an Enermax 535W PSU at your premisses nowadays )
    E*edited*
Unfortunately you did have an issue with the DFI board, this was quickly resolved once the issue was raised by way of a collection at our cost and a refund processed as requested.

All I wanted is to HELP scan to identify the source of a problem and solve it!
Then arrange for the information requested to be sent to me so we can look into this.

This is my last reply unless proof of a pattern of faulty goods being dispatched can be sent to me.

    Chris

This is going off tangent a bit, in a fashion that if the mods lock down, its a conspiracy, and if it continues down this path its just a thread of attrition.

    Its simple.

Scan sent out a refurb'd HDD, this is because someone dropped the ball. Humans are very fallible.

ehhhhhhhhh says this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. Fair enough, but can't provide anything to be helpful in narrowing it down. Its not really his place to. Scan are honest and say this isn't helpful.

But are Scan in this case, which seams to have all the facts, going to do something?

Humans fail, but systems can often be tightened up to prevent this happening, are there going to be clearer segregation in the warehouse between B and A grade, is more training going to be given to the pickers so they check security seals before packing.....

That was my point...I was really satisfied with the overall experience with scan. And I did not intend this to be an accusation, etc, hence I do not understand Chris's attitude, I'm not the enemy ...if scan would double-check their procedures or systems these issues can be avoided, that's all...on the end of the day it's good only for scan not for me...

and it's true, I cannot provide invoice numbers, it's not my job or responsibility to do so. I do not feel that I have to defend myself here. there are some posts such as the current one, highlighting the same issue...

I suppose you have a decent computerised system, and can double-check logs on returns, hence get to the culprit of the mistakes.

from this point I will not contribute to this thread more, though I feel disappointed to experience this hostile attitude from Chris.

I'm not sure I see a reason to close it, finlay. It looks like it's pretty much run it's course, anyway, and if so, will die off. I'd always prefer not to close threads, unless really necessary. It's nearly always a balance, when I do close one, and right now, I'm not seeing the scales tipping. If it gets out of hand, then maybe, but otherwise, we just let people have their say.
