any chance you guys tested today?
any chance you guys tested today?
An update perhaps guys? its really bugging me that my cpu is idling at 50C when it first boots, normally idles around 55-60.
Were on it now, 3rd time lucky, its actually works, were just setting Vista up now
Wesley
alright thanks wesley, just wanted to know you guys were still trying .
You using a chip from the first batch right?
They were still working with this when i left work at 4pm, i'll catch up with them in the morning and post as soon as I have the results.
Yes, chip is from first batch.
alright thanks wesley. Im kinda hopeing there is a fault so i can go buy the arctic cooler for the replacement xD.
Even if it is a fault, just think how long it will take to get a replacement.
wow wtf, bhavv and hicks12, you have been here since jan/feb and already have nearly 200 post count ? spam......
Ok Guys
We have the results and before I give them to you, I will start by saying Intel were indeed correct.
Setup the Intel chip on an Intel board using the Intel monitoring software and stock cooler;
the results are as below:
Temp reported in Idle around 32oC
Temp reported in Prime95 after around 1 hour of constant testing 47oC
Temp reported in Prime95 after around 2 hours of constant testing 51oC
Having spoken to Intel channel support with these findings they therefore conclude the CPU's are not faulty.
Thanks Wesley. Are these the core temperatures you're reporting, or the cpu sensor between the cores?
so if you have trouble with temp readings it is down to the design of your motherboard? The CPUs are working normally as they should?
Most motherbaord manufacturers, certainly the ones we have contact with are working on new BIOS updates to correct the temperature readings, but ultimately yes the CPUs are working normally and the excessive temperatures people are currently experiencing are not accurate.
This takes me back to when the socket 754 AMD 64's first came out and most of the motherboards were reading CPU temperatures about 10 deg high
Those temps look fine, but my Idle is still 40-42 degrees
Hopefully a new mobo bios will fix this like you say.
