"We recommend that you experience Windows 7 on a new PC." And no mention in the requirements of having a previous version of windows.
Now.. do I go professional or home?

I don't see why it wouldn't be. The prices are widely known, so anywhere selling for more than that won't get the business.
There's only one license for the UK AFAIK - I can't see it being upgrade-only. Maybe that was copy-pasted from the US FAQ or something.
SWEET, now that me Q has been answered, it gets more complicated with family pack on the news....The information page has been updated to detail the participating retailers in the UK now, although it is of course possible that more may be added.

On one one hand it says..

and on the other hand it says..

So say i have a legitimate copy of Windows XP on my laptop i would be eligible to pre-order for my desktop PC?
Is the legitimate copy retail and do you have another OS that can go onto your laptop? If so, yes, if not, then no.
