1stRaven - Just spotted - you're 5.1 days off the number 1 spot! Blimey, that's come around quick!

Looks like you'll just miss out on getting it in before the end of Feb, unless you somehow manage to magic up another server out of the blue!

Wonder if you'll hit number 1 before we hit 100mil?

After I get to 10 million I'm going back to just the one server running, but hopefully overclocked some way more than the current levels (3.46Ghz on a 980X!!!). Thermally, a GTX295 and a 980X aren't adequately cooled by a single 2.120 rad no matter how fast the fans run, so that project to move a bigger, better case is definitely pressing... In the meantime i'm waiting on my RIIE to come back from Asus and then I'll start the build process.

Until then though I'll just leave it running - only producing 30k ppd when it's capable of 50k+

Yeah, currently set to overtake Lowe on 1st march... but who knows. Just need a couple of quick bigadv units to change that.....

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

That's for Windows 2000.... It's not an issue that i'm overly concerned about, but I am at a loss as to why the machine rebooted as it is set to manually reboot. None of the logs show any problems or there being evidence of a BSOD. Windows just reported that it had finished installing the updates, while the settings in the control Panel definitely show Download and install when I say... Weird!

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

The update was probably Win7 SP1 if you're running 7. It doesn't explain why it rebooted though, mine didn't but I have mine set to check but manually download/install.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Hmmm. It must have been something I've done. Not too concerned about it as it's still up and running, and it had been prior to the reboot for a number of weeks so there's not a problem. Just a nuisance that I've lost 4.5 hours folding.

In other news I've got 3 bigadv units finishing today so that'll be 225k points coming our way today. Each rig that's processing these should get another one in by close of play monday also, so quickly working out what else I can contribute to the equation before the end of the month, I think I'll have 225k x 2 + 80k + 26k+26k +26k =
    =508k

The 80k is assuming the main rig gets through another one, which is possible, but not guaranteed. If it's not finished, then it'll be darned close to...

For me, the good news is that will take me up to and beyond my personal 10 million target.

Still no sign of the 2 motherboards coming back from Scan yet.... Would have been great to be able to up the contributions again when it matters, but TBH I would have only been able to contribute another 50kppd max, and that would've meant taking 2 gig out of 2 of my machines to raise the 4 gb on another one.

    Tatty.

Don't forget that the time difference means we get until 6am on 1st March to hit the 100M

EDIT: oooh, and I almost hit 14k yesterday: that's a big boost from the Q6600 + 8800GTX combo

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Hey Jim, that's what i'm sticking in my HTPC rig. 14k PPD for a single 8800 GTX and a Q6600 is not to be sniffed at! Are they overclocked at all/much?

Not sure how far you can push the Zotax mini ITX S775 boards... They look pretty unsubstantial, but I'm going to water cool it to keep it nice and happy at stock settings at least.. The CPU is capable of 3.6Ghz under water, but I'm not sure the VRM's on that board will let me do anything like that, and be reliable/quiet.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Well, one of my bigadv servers went offline today but might be able to get it back just for the weekend. It was the slowest of the lot though. Otherwise, the other servers are all good to fold through until monday which should give out a good few points.

About 4.5k of that was from my works server, so ~ 9.5k from the Q6600 / 8800GTX: still not half bad though! I suspect that was an unusually big day though: I wasn't expecting much more than ~ 7.5k out of them...

They're currently bone stock, including the nasty air coolers, and last I checked were sitting pretty at ~ 60C for the CPU and ~ 75C for the GPU in an 18C ambient with the side panel off the case. Overclocking will happen once I've managed to put aside enough money and time to finish off PCP (looking like that'll be after Easter now...) and they're all under water (and have been joined by a second 8800GTX ).

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

A second GTX 460 is on its way here today in the form of an EVGA SC card.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Just finished my first 67** unit. Was a long one, but had to have it switched off for about 36 hours. 10 mins a percent. Should now stay on until we've hit the 100,000,000 Mark.

    Edit: Just got another

Is there likely to be another of the folder of the month threads? Joined too late for the last one.

Same here, 2M WU. I hope to finish it until the end of February.

I hope that we will have more "Folder of the month" threads. If Tatty now knows how to get all the data and process it, maybe it doesn't take as much time.

Folder of the month will definitely be done.

I'll download the stats on Wednesday night and try to get something up by the weekend.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

A disappointing update regarding the v7 client's GPU folding on ATI cards: if you have a 4000 series Radeon card (as I do), you're out of luck - the PPD is ridiculously low (a 4870 gets around 1600PPD), since the client emulates the 5000/6000 series' features, so the PPD gets a big drop. 5000-6000 series still look good, though.
