Hmm. The BIGADV units on the three rigs that I have chugging away at them really have some wildly variable scores/rates projected.
Core i7 950 on 8 threads @4020Mhz = 34 min/fold = 30983 ppd
Core i7 970 on 12 threads @4200Mhz = 23 min/fold = 54874 ppd
Core i7 980X on 12 threads @3460Mhz = 34 min/fold = 30646 ppd
this with the GPU's which have a fairly static ppd contribution has varied by as much as 50kppd!
Yesterday I was only getting 98k ppf estimated with the fold rate on my 970 rig only being 23k ppd!
Just hope this maintains! That way we will go to the ball. Sorry I mean, will have better a crack at the 100 million.
In other news, Mrs Tatty did indeed have other plans for me last night, so no brewing. Instead I'll have a crack on Sunday or Monday night and start a thread after a couple of days.
I'm only a novice at this and still very much learning, but dear Mrs Tatty did buy me a couple of books over Xmas which detail how to make up the "wort" (that's the blackstuff you add sugar to, in order to make the beer out of). There's ingredient listed in there for all kinds, including my two tipples Newcastle Brown and Guiness, so watch this space - I'm going to take a bimble under the mersey to Birkenhead to a homebrew shop that is rumoured to exist - I'll pick up the bits one weekend that we're free, and I'll think about doing a log of that on here, depending on the feedback from the first one!

the projects make a big difference on the bigadv units. Some I get give over 100k points, others more like 60k.

That i7 970 is a monster. Apparantly sandy bridge i7s at high overclocks can manage about the same performance when folding.
The only comparisons I've seen have been 8 thread Sandy Bridge @ 4.5Ghz vs 12 Thread Nehelem @ STOCK, and they are about the same FOR FOLDING.... Single thread, the Sandy Bridge platform wooped ass in the single thread performance.
I'm not going to change platform for at least another 12 months as what I have is truly going to be powerful enough for me for some time to come, irrespective of what happens to the folding performance on new platforms. I am looking at the "home made boreas" project right now, and trying to get to grips with Sketchup. I'm used to using Lightwave and Choicecad, in which you work in 2D and navigate around the different viewports. The 3d isometric projection is really disorientating, and the lack of construction line facilities, or snap control is somewhat frustrating. Oh, and I'm trying to design a heat-exchanger, but I've no idea on how to set the scale to an absolute amount, ie how to draw a cube that's 1.5" in size looks impossible! You have to drawn a square to ~1.5" BY EYE and then EXTRUDE it BY EYE. Not quite precise enough for me and my engineering background....

Union should be able to confirm his Sandy bridge performance - he;s got the 2600K overclocked to something like that.
I'm going to go down the phase change route next. I could either condtantly replace my mobo/SPU every time they come out, or get more mileage out of the existing one, and not have to re-license Windows etc - that appeals somewhat. I use to have a vapochill, and WAY back I recorded a time for SuperPi that broke into the top 100 (I think it was... I'll see if I can find out ehat that was on). That was using my P4 Extreme Edition, with a Radeon 9800 XT and a modified single stage Phase change cooler down to about -30 if I remember correctly. So long ago now I can;t even remember what the clocks were, but I don't think they were that much higher than what I'm running now on my 970! It sure wasn't multicore like the this beast is
And what did I do with all that power? I played Unreal... Not like curing cancer or Altzeimers eh!

I've got 3 cpu units due for submission tomorrow. We'll have 225k more points then.....

Hmm, from what I recall it didn't used to have anything built in. Either that or it had a nasty American-English dictionary so kept saying correct spellings were wrong.
The WUs I've been getting have been about influenza apparently, are they just more common for SMP or do you start getting more variety after 10 WUs?
I didn't even know you could see what you've been helping out with! :O
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
Stanford publish what all the projects are about, you just need to look it up lol
