Even the proffesionals said it was another Liverpool Classic and Yes I have probably watched more football than you little bit of a silly comment from you but what you expect. The penalty that was Toure the absolute clown pull down a player he could not handle the skill of in the box. To say the penalty turned the game is absolute rubbish if you actually watched the game I watched you realise because your team cant last a pace for 90 minutes we actually scored 4 that night.

Few points for wenger rather than do skill on the ball training try and train your players to last 90 minutes maybe some fitness training no point playing good and fast for 20 minutes then being tiered for the rest. Work on your fitness.

Sour Grapes does spring to mind even JOSH has sense to admit they have been beaten shows that in fact your the one who is clueless lol...

    Too right its sour grapes.
The penalty wasnt anywhere near as obvious as the one we had robbed from us in the first round. Surely even someone such as you can admit that.

BTW.......i seriously doubt you have watched more games. I was probably going to matches whilst parts of you were still at school.

It never ceases to amaze me how all your Nartherners stick together.

    Re: Champions league Thread

If you actually read my post I never said the decision by the ref was incorrect when Dirty Dirk took your player down even though you went down like a dieing Swan. It should have been a penalty, I am not 19 pal wish I was though it would be good to live them years again!!!!

We do stick together rather than mug each other but its not only the best football teams up north we are also prepared to admit when we get beat by the better team on the day.

    Re: Champions league Thread

Tacticly arsenal wentw rong. playing senderos is always risky and having toure playing at rb is a no no too. eboue has been slated all season by arsenal fans but we all agree that eboue plays better in his prefrerd RB role where he should have played last night.

IMO walcott or bender should have started alongside ade because Ade is clueless when his up front alone.

Our park like defending cost us the ALL 3 games against liverpool. when playing at this level you cannot afford to gift a team like liverpool goals like that. if we defend like that against united. i can see them putting 4 past us as well

On the penalty side of things, i do beleive we was hard done by with both pen decisions but that is not the soul reason whyw e lost the tie. its because of our immature defening

    Re: Champions league Thread

    It was a fantastic game.

All credit to Arsenal, I don't think we were prepared for that initial onslaught. They game out aggressively and played Liverpool off the pitch for 25 minutes.

Regardless of whether you agree or not with the penalty decisions (I reckon they both were), that's football. If you don't accept that decisions can go the wrong way then you're watching the wrong sport. Try Yanky Football and spend half your life watching a single game.

Bottom line, the best team for 90 minutes won the game... and if you don't agree you must be a Chelsea supporter!

i say roll on manu this sunday, beat them and where back in the title race.

once again congratulations liverpool. you played your hearts out.
My views on you have now changed, takes a big man to say that sort of thing.

My views are unchanged about you. You got beaten fair and square. Take away the penalty, its still 3-2 on the night. Time to accept the facts, you got beaten by the better team. If you don't think that was a classic game, then i suggest you go learn about football.

I'm not the biggest fan of Eboue, he made too many bad decisions last night and shouldn't have been on the pitch. Sendoros, what was he thinking? If he's man marking he should have been next to his man, instead he let him get clear space.

I'd like to know why Walcott is not played on a more regular basis, its obvious that Arsenal have quite a few tired players, so why not give some of them a break and play Leo. Seems a little daft of Whinger not to be playing him.

Slightly OT. Whinger needs to calm down a little on the bench, he's heading towards a heart attack if he continues the way he is at the moment.

    Re: Champions league Thread

Well its looking like 3 English teams and Barca in the semis.

Like last time aound when it was 3 English teams and Milan, between them they still gave it to the Italians.

Lets hope they don't do it again. 3 out of 4 should be good enough any season.

Anyone but Barca or Liverpool suits me fine.

As for the Liverpool - Arsenal game, it all comes down to consistency. In the first leg, there was a clear pen for Arsenal, not given. In last nights game, pretty much exactly the same challenge, if anything less of a pen than the one in the first leg, and its given.

This skews the result in Liverpools favour. The 4th goal means nothing as Arsenal wouldnt have been pushing like that if they didn't need to score.

All we need is consistency. Either they are both pens or neither are.

    Re: Champions league Thread

Look this thread is getting out of hand

    1. Arsenal didn't get out played.

    2. Arsenal has some of the fittest players in the league

    3. liverpool had a penalty, which was given

    4. Arsenal had a clear penalty, that was not given

    5. That pen did swing the game back into liverpools favor

    6. Fellow gooners why are we worrying about the champions league? we are out!

    7. We can win the title still, but we must beat man u and hope chelsea does too. Then still win all our games

    8. liverpool beat us fair and square

    9. on a more positive note Theo walcott's little run was amazing, he will be one for the future

If there's one team other then arsenal out of the big four i respect it's liverpool. come on arsenal fans who do you want to win the champions league? man u, chelsea, barca?

I agree with this completely, i am a neutral and thought the game was fantastic but was ultimately decided (and ruined?!) by a referee decision, which seems to happen far too often. I cant see how he can award a penalty that late in the game knowing it would decide the tie unless he was 100% sure it was a clear foul, and the non-award of a penalty last week just makes it even worse.

Still as people have said, arsenal should not have conceeded the first 2 goals so they only have themselves to blame!

to say the penalty decided the game then i presume it was a different game than I was watching utter rubbish half of Arsenals team looked like then had run a marathon 3 times after 25 minutes had gone. Penalty or not Liverpool would have scored at some other point in the 2nd half it was inevitable. wait a minute so you are saying the ref should not give a penalty if its a big game? he just ignore it when people get chopped/pulled down in the box on scoring chances?

    Re: Champions league Thread

    So so blinkered!
Is in fact you thats speaking rubbish.............Liverpool were played of the park for 80% of the match.
The fact is Arsenal didnt take their chances in either leg and Liverpool did (with a little 'offical' help on more than one occassion). THAT was the difference.

The referee made very bad decisions that favoured Liverpool, again in both legs but we had enough chances over the two games to put Liverpool out maybe even before last nights game.
We just couldnt convert.....the story of Arsenal's season really!

The Liverpool gameplan worked well...no denying that.
Arsenal, over both legs were by far the better side, even you must be able to see that.
    BUT
The scoreline is all that counts and it went for Liverpool.

It was game of the season last night.......real 'edge of seat' stuff and regardless of the result, it was fantastic viewing.

    Re: Champions league Thread

1st prize for most pointless post goes to you Madduckuk
No wonder your post count is so high.

wait a minute so you are saying the ref should not give a penalty if its a big game?
What he was saying is that the ref should only give the penalty if he was 100% positive.
Lets face it, Babel was fouled outside of the box and he was 'jelly-leeging' it into the box to scam the penalty.

The ref bought it. I think as he had 1000's of people in the Kop shouting at him, the ref lost his nerve and gave it.

He obviously wasnt sure because he gave the foul against Toure in the box when actually the only (tiniest) contact was with Fabregas was outside the box.

Won or lose, its a shame that something like that spoiled a match. Torres goal was worthy of winning the game imho. Not the half baked dive that awarded the penalty.
