    I admit to being lost...

From what I understand, any BIOS version over 1.0 (or 10) is a beta version.

Am I wrong? Is there an offcially released non-beta version for download that's better than the beta BIOS 1.4 that I'm currently using?

Thank you for clearing up my confusion.

    Bests...

Exactly the same with bios 14

3.0 GHz works fine with same settings than bios 13 (except fanEQ of course :/), I'll try 3.4 later

So its not just mine then with the extra 10c temps - thats cool then. Bios 14 the best by far for me no cold boot issue and a fully stable OC with stock volts. Not going to push it more as the performance gain will be minimal for the extra volts/heat. Overall am chuffed with this board now the bios is matured, not yet checked out SLI but its there if i do decide to add an extra GPU in the near future. Well done Abit i was beginning to think different as my last 3 builds have been Abit boards and been solid. Peace Out

I've flashed to bios 14 and my temps have actually dropped 2-3C

I have lost some overclocking ability though, I can only reach 3.33Ghz stable now with the same voltages that got me to 3.6Ghz with bios 12.

I'm guessing that I might be getting a bigger v droop with this bios?

Basically happy though as cold boot issue is resolved

any of the BIOS files on the ftp are official releases, betas have a slightly different filenaming format etc. too.

These aren't beta as they don't display the 'For evaluation only' message.

There is a /beta/ folder for beta versons (although last time I looked they weren't any for this board)

    Cheers

Cold boot issue with Bios 14 :'(

Back to beta13, and waiting for bios 15

I know something that can help Abit engineers providing us a better bios:

Yeah theres definitely room for improvement. from 2.4Ghz - 2.9Ghz it will not boot but will at 3Ghz same voltage settings (100% stable). Must admit though when these are clocked at 3.0Ghz they are silly fast saved me alot of cash instead of going for a 6700.

My Fsb is 333Mhz and my LDT at x2 i have not tried it at LDTx3 witch it should do but will i lose any performance with it at only 2x.

Another thing my NB & VTT voltages are 1.33/1.35 are these low for a good overclock because they can go up quite alot more if i decide to OC some more.

Also i found that when i added a chipset fan on top of the NB h/s it dropped my PWM temps by 8c and my 8800gts by 10c. I think in my system it gets really hot between my NB & Gpu. Just thought i would add that incase anyone is getting higher GPU temps with this board because my GPU ran cooler in my old mobo.

    Thanks

pretty much all the 650i SLI board need MCH~1.6V or more for very high fsb - imo this is 1 of the reasons that the FP-IN9 SLI doen't get there as it's options are limited (the Asus allows upto 1.75V).
They all have fsb/memory holes & they all run hot ...

@BUFF - and will it be extended to more than 1.58V for MCH? Or is it technical limitation?

@ollie27 - I can do up to 375MHz FSB with 1.20V/1.20V stable. Nothing more no matter what volts.

Anyone knows what's the issue of E4300 vs E6xxx when reaching high FSB? I would love to see E4300 @ 6x500 and some low clock spi challange :] It would be a question for Abit bios engineers if it is possible on FP-IN9...

I don't know but I suspect that it's an engineering limitation (otherwise they would have it in the BIOS already).
Remember that Fatal1ty branded abits are not supposed to be out & out overclockers - that's the MAX line.
Having said that I've seen 1 screenie at 520+ fsb & quite a few in the 430-480 area.

I know about fatality, but i'm growing nuts when seeing 375MHz @ min volt stable, and nothing more... I have no ideas what can be holding back from getting higher FSBs... :/ Hope that newer bioses will help in that matter... If this board scales with voltage, I should be able to achieve quite high freqs..

do you know that your particular CPU can do more fsb?
Iirc a lot of E4300s are known to "wall" around the 400fsb level.

what are the highest (but safe) voltages for the NB and cpu vtt?
1.5v for both is still ok?
