I uninstalled the chipset drivers in add remove programs in control panel. And used driver sweeper ( Like driver cleaner pro but for vista)

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655

Cleaned in safe mode using nvidia chipset cleaning, rebooted and reinstalled the 15.00 driver package. Install everything you need bar the media shield and sata drivers. Vista will install them for you using the update system. Hope this works for you mate because i had a right nightmare with it. GL

    Thanks for posting the pic.

I've done a few Driver Cleaners and uninstalls.

What I get now is below, is this correct? It's not like your one Ollie, I have a feeling mine is wrong.

Ollie can you double click on the Nvidia nForce Serial Ata Controller and post a pic so I can see if its the same as mine when I open the properties.

Sorry I meant could you right click on the NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller and select Properties and post a picture of that. The page with the Driver info and date would really help.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Ollie.

Mine is some old crappy driver by the looks of things.

I need to work out how to get it like yours now then. When I click Update Driver and try and manually select a new one it says its already up to date.

Hi mate, What i did was do a clean uninstall of all your chipset drivers and do a driver clean. Then after reboot vista auto finds the drivers for you (did me) then let it update and reboot if asked. Then install the 15.00 driver package and install all but sata/mediashield. (i installed ethernet & smsbus) reboot once more and all should be good. The vista sata driver witch the update finds are newer ones.

Let me know how you get on.

EDIT. i Didn't update the drivers using the device manager - when i rebooted after uninstall of chipset drivers, It pops up a message saying found new hardware and it applies the driver for you.

liamhalpin, best thing I did is read some OC newb's guides. I learned enough to learn a little more about what was what. After a couple of attempts I settled with an upped Vcore a notch, unlinked SLI-memory, which allowed me to easily get a OC on a Q6600 to 2.7ghz from 2.4ghz.

Have tried to go further without boosting any other voltages but it locks up at post. My next step will be to slacken the mem settings and up NB voltage to see if that works to get above 2.7.

    Hello everyone

Ive been reading this thread for a while now trying to figure how to get my system to OC without giving me stability issues.

    My new rig:

e6600 @ 2.4ghz (I had it at 3.0ghz for a while but then after a while the system became so unstable that I had to go back to stock)

    Zalman 9700 CPU fan

    Fatality FP-IN9 SLI

    4 x 1gig sticks of Gskill DDR2 800 5-5-5-15

    Antec TruePower Trio 650watt PSU

    2 x Geforce 7800GTs SLI

    Sound Blaster X-Fi

    Antec 900 Case

Like I said earlier, I had the e6600 running at 3.0ghz for a while at CPU volt 1.375, DDR volt 1.95, VTT 1.20, and NB volt at 1.35. I had the SLI at 101. I also OC'd the ram at the time to 800mhz 4-4-4-12. After a few days of running the machine at this with no problems, I started having major problems and it had trouble even booting to Windows. Right now Im back at stock settings and can run Orthos forever. I think my problem is with the voltages somehow.

Thanks in advance for all your help

Put on BIOS14 and, ignoring low O/C, you should be able to get 3GHz straight off.

What's the mulitplier of the Q6600?
With my E4300 I get 9x333 (FSB 1333) and am sitting pretty at 3GHz (up from 1.8GHz)

Hello. I've got a problem. I have just changed case, and cooling (from BOX to Ninja Scythe) and when I run ABIT EQ I see 231*C on PWM, and -25*C when in BIOS. Is it really possible? I've never got more than 50*C before. And It is working fine right now. Any ideas anyone?

Default multiplier for the Q6600 is 9.

I'm currently involved in teh Warhammer MMO beta , so I've dropped my settings to stock, as it's makes sense to test on a stable system, at least at first...

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

I was using the beta 13 bios and decided to try the v14 bios, huge mistake, would not boot with ramat 1T @800Mhz all other stock settings(ram at 2.1v). Went back to bios 12, machine won't even boot now, Im getting my mate to copy the bios 13 to a floppy and will hopefully get the machine up and running, failing that looks like a new mobo anyone got any ideas??
