    well, i can boot into windows @ 375MHz. but 16M pi can't pass. when i up the CPU VTT up to 1.28V spi is running well. Got only one reboot without BSOD. Upped MCH to 1.24V and it's stable so far. Can anyone explain what CPU VTT Voltage is for? (proc 8x375, 1.375V)

    With BIOS 14 I'm now stable @ 375. I tried going to 7x and 400 FSB, but it would just POST into safe mode. Jumping to 425+, to check for holes, the board wouldn't even POST.

    I could try to up the voltages more, but I guess I'm too cheap to risk killing the MB, CPU, RAM, etc.

    Maybe when a new BIOS is released..?

    Try FSB 402 please

    No boot @ FSB 400 for me, but XP works @ 402x6

    Sorted my lock up issues - It was windows vista firewall causing the freezing. I checked the event viewer and at the times of my lock ups they were all related to my vista firewall, Installed a 3rd party f/w and disabled vista f/w and all is good again.

    Off topic: Does anybody know of a firewall for vista. Thanks

    chienbleu,

    I'll give it a try. What voltages are you using for Core, NB, VTT, etc?

    ollie27,

    I'm not sure how you're getting your 'net connection, but I've always suggested that you use a router for your firewall. Harder (usually) to crack and it doesn't bog the system down.

    I've only raised Vcore and NB @ 1.5v, others settings are in my bios screens. With bios 13, no boot at all with 14.

    @chienbleu - some people told me what it is. It is propabily the FSB voltage. It influence stability of proc and/or communication with RAM.

    To do 16M spi 375MHz FSB I need to have 1.28V @ VTT. But even then I have random restarts and sometimes the system refuse to respond. I have no ideas. Tried 1.32V VTT & 1.28V MCH. On the weekend I'll try to break 400FSB.

    chienblue,

    No joy with 402. I'm already running with upped Core, VTT & NB voltages. Tried really pushing the NB and still couldn't get it past safe mode.

    Regarding VTT (by freecableguy @ The Tech Repository):

    "VTT, sometimes referred to in the BIOS as the FSB Termination Voltage, provides the low level signaling bias needed for the processors, chipsets, and all other devices on the bus to communicate... Simply raising VTT may or may not create voltage margins necessary to sufficiently skew signals as required to meet minimum sample and hold times for increased bus frequencies. Additionally, processors are particularly sensitive to even small increases in VTT as bus impedances and termination resistance values are quite low. In fact, increasing VTT will most likely just create unwanted device heating with little to no change in FSB stabilization."

    I only increased my VTT by one notch. Without it I couldn't get past 350 FSB. YMMV, but I wouldn't increase this more than 1 or 2 levels.

    Bests...

    All right. This is what I've managed so far:
    SPI stable 375MHz FSB -> 1.28/1.20V (VTT/MCH)
    SPI stable 401MHz FSB -> 1.58/1.43V
    And I've seen 405MHz FSB booting, but I didn't check how stable is it. Tried also 1630, 1640, ..., 1670, 1704 QPB but no boot.

    Any Windows Vista 64bit users here?

    I'm having problems with the Nvidia nforce drivers, the PC freezes and reports nvstor64.sys in the Bluescreen.

    Any ideas?

    Sata drivers i had the same problem. When i installed the chipset drivers i installed all but the sata drivers and media shield and let vista update it . Took me a good few days to fix it. Its due to to a dodgy nvidia vista sata driver in there 15.00 driver package. Good Luck!

    I'm using Vista 64bit, the nvidia software seems fine, so crashes that I've noticed.

    Ollie could you show me your device manager like the below. Below is mine and I would just like to make sure that the Storage Controllers and IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers are in the right place.
