when you removed the sli card, did you put it back in straight away? or wait bit? or anything?

I removed the sli card, reinserted it with it still same way which was normal mode into the board.

i tried that, tried my other dvi socket on card, tried the master and slave sockets of the pci-e slots.

Still power to board, but nothing what so ever on the screen.

I've had same problem. Replacing the SLI card solved it.
Now... If I could ask you for sharing the new beta bios 13 I could check the OCing potential of my board. I don't want to try it at standard bios after I've red so many complaints about it.
    Thank you

    in the motherboard its mentions:-

    ATXPWR1 = 24pin connector - no problem there

ATX12V1 = 8pin connector, supplies power to CPU, system will not start without this connected, which im lost cos i cant seem to find any of my power leads that have 8pin, i have a 6pin for gfx card.
    l
ATX4P1 = No problems, this provides an auxiliary power source for devices on PCI-E slots.

my current psu doesnt have a 8pin power connector, and nor does another i brought, either dont have 2x 4pin connectors so i could connect the two together, can anyone help me!!!

Adapters are available with 4pin female to 8pin Male molex connectors. It is required to plug an 8pin into this socket, the board will not post without it.
(It would have been nice for Abit to mention the fact that 8pin is required or provide this adapter with the motherboard such as Intel does).

Board worked fine when I used a 4 pin, back when I used a 400W FSP.

Odd, mine simply would not post until I got the adapter.

Perhaps different rev of the motherboard?

OK, all working booted up got some compound stuff on cpu as it was running at 60degs!, anyway was ram needed some old ddr2 ram which i never had before as 1st time i used ddr2 here, to boot it up and change the ram timings in the bios, then it booted up fine with my ddr2 ram.

Tonight i got everything in my new case, psu, board, drives etc, tomorrow is my day off and will connect them all up and probably have to reinstall the operating systtem.

I got one of these boards last night as part of a new system. I have a different problem. Built everything up, everything seems to work fine, POSTS no problem and detects all my peripherals.

So I decided to try and setup RAID on my two 250GB Barracudas and somethign went wrong...

I enabled RAID on SATA 1 and 2 in the BIOS, then rebooted, went into the RAID config BIOS and selected to use striping and created an array. Everything seemed fine, raid health is sound. Booted of an XP Pro CD and began setup, had a floppy disc in with the nvRAID drivers from the Abit homepage ready for when Windows asked for it.

So Windows setup starts, it said that I was required to install the RAID drivers (there were two options nvRAID and something else like mass storage drivers, it said they were both required). Formatted the disk as it appeared correctly as one logical drive, then windows began copying files and installing. After what looked like a succesful installation my machine reboot, showed the Loading Windows XP screen, then quickly flashed with a blue screen and reboot again. And again, and again, and again.

I cant see what the screen says because it flashes on and off so fast, the only thing i could make out was something like "problem with hard drive" even though both drives are there and correctly setup for raid.

Now I have no idea whats wrong. I also got a strange 'nee naw nee naw' siren sound sometimes when restarting. I do need to update to latest BIOS which I will do tonight but does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Everything seems to be correctly installed.

Oh and also, should I delete the RAID array before flashing the BIOS?

Always best to update the bios. If you're leaving your system a stock settings then update to version 12. If you plan to do any overclocking beta 13 seems to be better bios. If want beta 13 PM me your email address and I will send it to you.

are you sure that your floppy is working & that you have the cable connected properly (it's directional & most of us at 1 time or another have got it wrong)?

It is possible to flash from a CD but it's probably easier to flash from a USB memory stick.

Tried from memory stick, just comes up saying "verifying dmi pool data..."
does detect the usb stick tho.

Tried burning to cd and says same thing

Tried floppy disk drive, with another cable, (dont have another floppy drive) says floppy disk failed. (and cable on goes in one way on both ends of it.)

Im just running out of options...
