    Activate Factory Overclock

    Hi Guys,

How can i activate this 'Factory Overclock' on the Fatal1ty FP-IN9 ? I´m using BIOS 14..

Right now i just make a CLEAR CMOS and re-config everything... But i notice that is a optimization Mode on BIOS, to turn on Factory Overclock i must load Optimized Settings? there test to make sure that the factorey over is enabled ??

I´d like to do some tests to see the performance diference between the Factory Overclock and my actual setup 400*7 : 2.8Ghz

    Thank´s !

Hey BUFF, give some light man!

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

the factory overclock modes on abit's usually only amounts to ~16% at most in my experience.
You don't say what CPU that you have but you can certainly beat the factory overclock modes by manually configuring.

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

Sorry to drag up this old post but I was wondering if anyone had a link to this modded bios as the one linked appears to have been removed now.

I bought my board about 3 weeks ago now and I am having a lot of issues with overclocking. The board itself is very good and at stock settings there are no issues whatsoever its when overclocking that the problems start. I have Abit boards for years now and I dont want to have to replace a perfectly working motherboard with the Asus P5E because it seems so bad for overclocking.
I have bought some fairly good quality stuff listed below...

    Windows Vista X64
    Intel Q6600 @ 2.4GHz - G0 Stepping
    Abit FP9 - SLI Board
    4GB Geil 6400 Ram - 800MHz
ATI Radeon 2900XT (Odd choice for this board but I like it)
    2 74GB Raptors in raid 0
    300GB Storage Drive
20GB Drive (For benching in Windows XP)

I have got Zalman reservator XT water cooling to cool the CPU and got an EKS waterblock for the 2900XT so heat is deffinately not going to be an early problem with these components.
My motherboard shipped with bios 14 which I have upgraded to 15 but no differences have been made.

I have tried to run 1333 fsb at 3:2 divider to keep the memory at 800Mhz but I get random reboots in windows or most of the time it will not even make it that far. I have tried all voltage hikes on CPU, NB and VTT without success. I have tried a different divider keeping the memory at stock and running the CPU at 2700MHz but still no use.
I have tried the PCI Express 101MHz idea but still nothing and placed a fan on the northbridge, really struggling now and dont want to have to give up on abit but getting slightly worried that BIOS 15 will be the last.

low - middle 300s is all that you can expect with a quad on 650i SLI - it's just not a good match for fsb overclocking.

For sure worth a try, since you set the limit voltage for NB, 1.58v... Do you pretend to run 1.58v for daily use? It´s safe lol ?

Sorry for the long time for reply

I've been running on those clocks and voltages for the last month or two now and it's Rock Solid. Also I have quite a lot of cooling in the case (2x 250mm fans pushing air on the mobo and a 25mm fan on the norbdrige so it is quite cool )

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

    you'll probably get ~3.0GHz with a Q6600 on a 650i SLI - maybe a bit more but maybe a bit less.
If you want 3.6GHz or whatever you'll need to change to a mobo with a different chipset (P35/X38 probably best atm unless you need SLI).

well, the mobo is the cheaper bit to replace with an equivalent anyway.
What features do you need e.g. RAID, firewire etc.?
    Budget?

The IP35-E is £59 but doesn't have RAID or firewire.
abit IP35 is £73 atm on SCAN Today Only & has both of the above.
    Gigabyte P35-DS3P is £86 with the DS4@£100
abit IP35 Pro is £105 on Today Only

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

I bought this board last week.. I've been trying to do some overclocking and had no luck running on the version 14 bios it came with.. I tried upgrading to the 16 bios that was on their ftp site the other day and had the same results. Even taking fsb to 801 from the stock 800 caused it not to post.

Going back to version 13 has allowed me to overclock but I've noticed my Kingston 1GB usb drive that I have for speedboost will get lost on reboots.

    These are my current settings..

Right now I've got FSB on 1,000 (2.5 Ghz)
    I changed to unlinked.
Changed the memory speed to 900Mhz
And increased voltage to 2.1 to the memory.

This is all I've changed because I quite simply don't know or am not experienced enough to know what each setting should be. I've read lots of OC guides and just havent seen any that are tailored for the FP-IN9 and my processor.

I would like to get 2.8 - 3.0 out of my e4400. From what I've read it certainly seems possible. I have a good air cooler and temperatures right now at 2.5 are under what they were at stock speeds the the retail cooler.

Can someone please give me specifics on what I can try in my bios to get 2.8 - 3.0 out of the 4400?
Also would you recomend that I go to a newer BIOS? I've read where some have to change their FSB to 1333 with version 14 or newer but was scared to try it as I am a n00b and don't want to crater it for good. I'm sure there has to be advantages with the new bios..

    Thanks for the help..

    Re: fatal1ty fp-in9 sli

I found the following worked for me with the e4400

    bios 15

changed the multiplier down to 9 from 10
    bus speed 1333
    voltage 1.400v
    ddr2 on auto but unlinked

    cpu feature
    eist disabled
    limit cpuid max val disabled
    cie function disabled

it also overclocked at 10x but would not post until set to high FSB speeds, (just moving from 800 to 801 would prevent post) I can't remember the fsb speeds it liked but they were higher than 1200 before it started posting,

It also seems quite happy to go beyond 1333 with a 9x multiplier without any more voltage

Ok I tried what you posted and had no luck..
I tried all the way down to a 7x multiplier with a 1333 fsb and couldnt get a post.

Here's the rundown on my bios..
    I went to version 15 from 13.

The first menu in is the Soft Menu - options are as follows

SLI Ready Memory ---> Enabled - Disabled - advanced
CPU Operating Speed ---> Linked - Unlinked (Can only change memory ratio if Linked)
FSB (QDR) ---> enter value here
Estimated New FSB ---> displays new fsb
Multiplier Factor ---> enter value here
Estimated New CPU Clock ---> displays cpu speed
FSB Memory Ratio ----> can only change if CPU Operating Speed is set to Linked)
MEM (DDR2) ----> memory speed can change if CPU Operating Speed is set to unlinked.
Estimated DDR2 Data Rate ----> displays memory data rate.

NB PCIe x16 Clock ---> default 100mhz or enter value.

    Voltage Options
    CPU Core
    DDR2
    DDR2 REF
    CPU VTT
    NB Voltage

CPU Functions (this is not in soft menu, it's in CPU settings in the main bios screen)
    EIST
    Thermal
    Limit CPU ID
    CIE Function
    Exectute Disable Bit

I'm not sure if any of this helps. But if I set everything to stock / auto and run CPU-Z it tells me the following.

Name: Intel Core 2 Duo E4400
    Code Name: Conroe
    Package: Socket 775 LGA
    Technology: 65 nm
    Core Voltage: 1.200 V
    Family:6
    Model:F
    Stepping:2
    Ext. Family 6
    Ext. Model:F
    Revision: L2

Any other tips tricks or advice is greatly appreciated..
    Thanks.
