Warzone 2100 - Stupendously good. Still one of the best games I've ever played. Had so much fun playing it. Pretty gutted there was no follow up title .

Another vote for Total annihilation - great game.

As for current I don't know but im sure, the best one will be Supreme Commander when it comes out.

Made me fall in love with the Dune universe. You'll usually find me with my head buried in a Dune book when I have nothing else to do

    Assuming you mean Dune 2,

Kinda had the same thing for me, had Dune 2 on the PC, loved it, bought the book Dune at a jumble sale for 10p. Found it very hard to read, was only 12, tried again when I was 15 and loved it.

Agent have you read the new book yet, Hunters of Dune?

    Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri

Particularly liked the characters, and the ability to design units.

Other than that, Civ 1, 2, 3 ,4 were good too.

Another vote for Civ 4, Rome total war (or any total war for that matter)

For RTS Dawn of war is fantastic in multiplayer.

For old skool turn based action you cant beat Master of Orion 2.

Other old ones I loved were, Dune 2, The Settlers, Populus, Megalomania, UFO (x-com) and an old amiga game I bet nobody has heard of called K240.

Civilization 2/3/4 and Call to Power 1 & 2 were great, and Rome - Total War is just full of awesome-ness.

None of that new fangled RTS if you please.......

Another vote for all the Civ series and Call to Power. In fact anything that Sid Meier has even looked at turns to gold (even the stuff he only sparked off)

You might want to take a look at The Operational Art of War series too for strategic and logistical game play that is second to none. 1 & 2 were great but I've not played 3.

Star Wars Empire at War is a lot of fun, especially the space battles. There is a new expansion out for it this month, which adds a whole new faction, and adds the Executer Super Star Destroyer, and the Eclipse, from the EU.

starcraft is commonly accepted as the best 1v1 rts out there,
alot of people like warcraft 3 but that is a poor RTS overall, its more rts/rpg game.

C&C red alert 1 and 2 are great including expansion packs as well. Age of Mythology was awesome too, I really liked that game.

I was quite partial to Age of Empires a few years ago too, might look into the later editions. Has the series moved on much?

Definitely any of the CIV series and Total War. I'll never forget the first time I played Age of Empires as well, that game was awesome for its time. I would question my sanity though after spending 10 hours solid clicking little men around a screen.

Amen to that, AOE was one of the first games to convert me to PC gaming, I even think it was the first game I played online (56k ftw ).

Another mention should go to Zeus - Masters of Olympus. Although I think it was a little bit "clunky" I spent many hours on it and it was a pretty good game.
