    just noticed that according to the blurb this is supposed to be great for modding... yes yes yes! i could probably have guessed that anyway after the TA mods that are out, but i can see a fantastic mechwarrior total conversion in here!

    WOO first win. pretty much did the same as before only i did a lot better balancing my resource usage. the level 2 artillery turrets really makes life SO much easier when you have energy to power them.

    on a different note, has anyone else noticed how a group of crap enemies moves when zoomed out and beyond visual contact? almost like you would expect a swarm of insects to move

    If you want to play as Aeon or UEF on the skirmish map you should read this thread: http://garage.gaspowered.com/?q=node/9009

    Open up /gamedata/lua.scd in something like winrar and scroll to /lua/modules/ui/menus/ and open up main.lua in something like notepad.

    and:

    To change factions:
    scroll down to...
    sessionInfo.teamInfo[1].Faction = 3

    Then change the value to "1" (UEF) or "2" (Aeon).

    Just know that if you are the UEF and Aeon you only get to Tech 2...
    to even things up you can change the AI to Aeon or UEF here (scroll down about 10 lines):
    sessionInfo.teamInfo[2].Faction = 3

    Again, change that to 1 or 2.

    Interesting use of lua scripting there. I've only ever seen lua really well implemented as a means of interfaces to pass data.
    To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

    having walls and other buildings at the choke points with loads of tech 2 point defense scattered about is pretty good, accompanied by gunships and bombers: the walls etc slow the spidy down long enough for the point defense and planes to do some serious damage

    Downloaded the demo today and have played it for the last two hours. What a game. Its exactly the kind of RTS game that I love; very long drawn out battles with lots of units and a good technical and tactical sort of game play. I love it and I'll be getting this one for sure. It runs remarkably well on my system too, which suprised me a little.

    Try and keep it on land with some cannon fodder and use ships to bombard it.

    I'm finding it a bit boring now as the demo skirmish is very easy - the AI isn't too good. On the other hand it's good fun trying out different strategies - so far I've won by nuke, by artillery, by ship bombardment and by rolling waves of tanks/walker units. Need to sort out air stuff at the moment, but it feels too weak at the moment - it's easy to defend against air attacks and the AI doesn't even bother with them offensively.

    Try this link. Its the harder AI from the beta test, you just replace your lua.scd with the file linked there... makes it a decent bit tougher on hard!

    Thanks.. how the blighty does it build/progress up the tech ladder so quickly?! I think I need to optimise my build order a lot!

    Any idea if the game will have replay/saving functions like other recent RTS'? Would be nice to see just how it manages it.

    Computers are great at micromanaging resources (storage, getting the energy mass/ratios correct), you will never be able to compete there, but they aren't as good as adapting to situations and changing strategies, so you gotta try get them there.... one of my first skirmishes, I got monkeylorded while I was just on tech 2....

    Yup, the game will have a replay feature - there are already some beta replays on gamereplays.org and when you finish a skirmish in the demo there is a Save Replay button (greyed out) on the bottom left of the score summary screen

    Q Am i missing something, as my demo is not mumltiplayer ?

    Also if the only demo about is SP, for those that it does'nt grab - TA never grabbed my skirmish - but MP is where it was at for me, and most ppl.

    With that in mind it seems a shame if no MP available
