Might do the trick, but I suspect they are just a touch too wide

on that subject of mobo v nb temp . After adding back on my chipset block to NB & a modded Zalman ZM-NB32K North Bridge chipset Heatsink to the sb. I'm again running orthos . Temps show in pcprobe & everest for mobo are now at 39C previously it was 33C. Now the temp probe on the sb showing 35C v 39~40C previously. Can no longer measure nb with probe, due to block, but am confident block is seated well etc., so that to must be down.
Maybe mossfet temps are up ?? the side mossfet is now cooled by the thermalright HR-09 & as clunk found it's impossible to cover all mossfets. I'm also experimenting atm with onl 1 saide panel 120 blowing the other which covers the cpu is off. May repeat with it on, later.
You can cover all the mosfets if you do it like I did, see the pics. You just use the long side of the HR-09
One possibility for you rise in SB temps could be that the heatpipe cooler actually works for a change, and you dont have much airflow in the that part of your case (its upside down innit, so heat rises). Just a theory
No wrong way round sb = down about 3C (heatpipe v zalman)
There are 2 x 120mm fan holes intaking air from rad through top of case so sb is in a fairly strong breeze
It's the actual mobo temp that's gone up, the location shown in the pic. yep forgot about you inverting your hr-09 that may well be the answer.
Copied your method of mounting the Thermalright HR09-U mosfett cooler
Used a bit more of my old tobacco tin for the mounting
Covered side in masking tape to trace outline of stencil
Lifted wifi out so that i could check bolt head was clear
.
Added some memory/vga coolers to help heat disapation
meant to say on sunday when put in my chipset & gfx blocks, lifting the heatpips was a bugger.
Southbridge felt like it was welded on. In fairness i've heard people say their heatpipes were stuck & i tended to discount it till this hit me.
Unstuck

My method is now patented, so you'll have to send cash, or expensive jewels and gold bullion to the usual address
I noticed that the SB heatsink was much harder to get off once it had been used, I used the lever off a pair of nail clippers...its nice and rounded, so no scratched motherboard
Gold bullion is on way
Yep i ended up using an off cut of neophane which went under the overhang of the sb, i then used a small jewellry screwdriver & levered it off using the ide socket as a fulcrum with the neophane protecting the mobo.
My P5B has been rma'd to OCUK and is taking a while to get returned - I bought some ECS thing from PC World to tide me over, but that doesn't like my 4gb memory for some reason...
Anyway, is it worth getting one of these over my P5B? I will probably get a Q6600 when they come down in price in July...
not haad the p5b but i upgraded from a commando, i must say this has the odd quirck that's clunk & others have mentioned , but it is a good reliable mobo.
i'd go for it
Ok finally(!) got my clips to attach a second fan to the Ninja Rev.B on my Q6600... Bumped the FSB to 333 and didn't touch anything else.
I'm idling at 35-37°C and capping at 55°C at full load for a while. It's currently 27°C here so i guess it's not that bad :-O
hey, clunk, how are things?
just wondering if i could pick your brains a little, what with you being the hardware guru that you are!
anyhoo,i got my 8800GTX last week, and all i can say is 'holy cow, thats a big card', but it performs brilliantly at 1600x1200 (sorry, still got crt, dell 24incher next week!), and i just got vista home premium off ebuyer for the £37 shipped. im basically asking about temp monitoring stuff in vista so i can use it a little more frequently.
thanks for your advice, in advance

I dumped vista mate. Not much worked for me as far as temp monitoring went.
Although, saying that, I want using the P5K then.
Just grab a few different ones and see what works. TAT, coretemp, speedfan (+15c), everest etc.
Decent review here [H]Enthusiast - ASUS P5K Deluxe WiFi-AP Edition
That explains how i did it then;lol:Simply put overclocking this board is child’s play. I made very few adjustments in order to reach these speeds. The P5K is an overclocking noobie’s best choice from what we have seen lately. Beginners and seasoned enthusiasts alike can enjoy outstanding overclockability with minimal tuning effort
If you are building today, you can't go wrong with the ASUS P5K Deluxe WiFi-AP Edition, which is one of the best motherboards I've worked with in recent memory
Just ordered my P5K (along with other goodies ), can't wait for it to arrive.
