8800GTX is working just fine with the SATA ports here 5aboy. I don't use all of them as I had originally planned to, but I could certainly squeeze them on if I need them later. As I understand things, all the boards regardless of brand are reference designs layout-wise, so the same should go for everyone. You will need a single angled SATA cable to fill all 6 slots, the rest can be the regular straight ones.

I'm using all my sata ports as well, though with a gts. I have been using 1m Akasa cables but find them very clunky(no offense) & particularly awkward & tight,. with each pair. I happened to get a couple of these last week 1m 3XS Serial ATA Cable SATA150/300 Certified they have a much smaller profile & don't intefere when 2 are mounted on the board in adjacent sockets. For the £ their very good & a nice finish & colour. I'll be getting 4 more next time i go to scan.

I must admit i plugged the sata cables in with the gfx card removed.

Ive exceeded 2 x photobucket accts at 25gb each, but thats because the pics were high rez, I've compressed them down so they are about 88k each now instead of close to 800k each , and I'm just in the process of getting some hosting sorted

Thanks for the kind offer though mate, much appreciated

i have just seen it myself - have you tested it as working ok?

EDIT: Just installed it, yes you get the 'FSB strap' option, but i dont know what to do with it. some have reported lower temps, but not had time to test it - at least the bios post's after update, im happy!

well that didn't do anything 4 me. After flashing entered my std settings set FSB strap to 266 then dram to 1200 as my normal settings.
got overclocking failed. tried again with transaction booster on auto (was on 1) got the same.

played about a bit more basdically can't boot at 9x400 so flashed back. Hope official 1 is better .

I think its also to fix that bug that I mentioned in he P5K add on guide, where the ram dividers are shown wrong under 300FSB.

I'm going to stick with 0302 for now, its been the dogs bollocks

Yep clunlk your right about that.
Well i lied i'm now running 0403. I had that itch so tried again. I think it may not have been agood flash 1st time as i judst say apink blob rather than the lifestyle loading screen. So this time i loaded bios defaults & reflashed from stock. Went straight into 9x400. have got FSB strap to NB on auto atm with 1200 dram frequency selected. have got sub timings & transaction booster on auto.

looking at everest benches read bandwidth seems to have lifted. 9426 to 9751 seems about the only real change. In fairness not sure if this is down to bios change or the difference in the sub timings 3,30,3,3,3 v Auto. I remenber eva saying auto were a bit tighter , i'll try manual settings later.

    9x400 @2:3 0302 v 0403:-

Right, I might be being incredibly stupid, but I can't find a 0403 bios at that link... the latest ones I see are 0404 and 0501... have they just updated them again?

    0433 14M 28.453S
    Compared with rightmost pi32 here run on 0311 = 14M 19.828s

as i said transaction booster is on auto.
    atm

    Edit:
interesting note that the only difference in sub timings between auto (04033) & Manual 3,30,3,3,3 (0311) appears according to Memset is Write to precharge delay. 14 v 11 only issue i have is i can't see that valure in bios;lol:

No Jim they ok like new ones. Worse than buses your waiting forever then 3 come at once

Your multiplier's dropped down to 6 in the 0403 screenie, maybe left speedstep on? I know it ramps back up under load but it might have dented your Super PI score.

Either that or it's a damn fine time for Pi32 @2400

Ok... I think I'm gonna hold back on bios flashing until there's a definite, final new one
