Well thats lame. I'm about 1km from the exchange via copper wiring - Is it possible that interleaving MIGHT not be turned on with the value package?
Or would I have to talk to them about it?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's always on for Value customers. You could try talking to them about it but they'll say that they can't turn it off.
Do you mean 1km as the crow flies or by google earth or do you have adsl2 now and have some attenuation values? At 1km you'll pretty much get the full speed.
If you go with o2 there's no option to turn off interleaving either. Why would you want the interleaving not on may I ask? If it's to lower pings the differences aren't really really massive between it on and off.
Downstream Margin: 22 db
Upstream Margin: 21 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 27
Upstream Line Attenuation: 15
According to my router.
I'm also on G.DMT modulation - which lowers my pings by 20 (when compared to using adsl2 or adsl2+).
As for the 1km - iirc it's by road ways. I'll confirm it when my brother gets up.
I do remember that when we asked pipex about 24mb service - the maximum we would get due to distance was 13-15mb if we were lucky.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
your attenuation is good, you'll most likely get a full 8 meg sync.
Ok Im about 1.2-1.6km away apparently.
Hmmm
Samknows says I can get a max of 8mb from my exchange.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You might get more. I'm 2.5km away (following the copper, 1.5km as the crow flies) and I get an 8.2Mb sync.
how do you work out the copper distance?
I didn't find out until my first ISP's order went through - can't remember exactly how as it was years ago, but I'd previously been told 1.5km, and then was quoted 2.5 - I can only assume that's because my local cabinet is further away from the exchange than I am (which I know it is).
Wow, how so much can happen in 4 years.....
Today, BE have streaming issues, refuse to roll out FTTC (which makes BT Infinity substantially better value) and they are even charging for modems sent back that they cannot find.
Desperate times for a pioneer that completely took their eye off the ball.

i still love them. i do hope they can up their speeds now seeing everyone getting fiber but i'll take more than that to make me leave be
first time I've seen a thread necro that's worth seeing.
Well done to Shaithis for recalling it and posting.
hope they make him a happy punter soon though.....
