Well some people say it's about 150GB and other people say upto 500GB is just fine. Thing is actual FUP figure is not clearly stated on thier T&C. I usually do 120-150GB per month and they don't complain at all though.

Or you mean traffic control/shaping stuff? If that's what you meant then there's non as far as I'm concerned. You get full speed at anytime of the day and no applications I've tried so far are being throttled. No idea about port restriction policy sorry.

no caps, there IS a theoretical fair usage policy but i dont think anyone has ever downloaded enough to find out what it is (iv done 200GB in a month easy before now) theres a port block to do with e-mail but all your p2p etc are totally unrestricted

well its good to let it stretch its legs and see what it can do in the first month, and getting over 2 megabytes a second is amazing till you get used to it

I am under 2km away from the exchange (straightline) and I am connected to the Poplar exchange. Anyone here connected to the same exchange?

What speeds am I likely to get with that distance ?

I checked with Tiscali availability checker (for their 8mb service) and it says that my line is only likely to support 3mb ... Is this correct or are the ADSL and ADSL2+ different with regards to the speeds at those distances ?

Just getting a bit worried ... Although at the end of the day, the fastest connection I normally use is only 1mb. But dont want to pay £24 for something I can get for cheaper.

adsl and adsl2+ are different, you would get quite a lot more than that (i know of someone 1.7km from the exchange as the crow flies that gets about 10meg) theres a chart around somewhere, possibly dontbethere.co.uk that has speed/distance estimates for ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ on it.

The chart compares signal/attenuation with speed. And says that there is no relationship between speed and straightline distance. So looks like its just get it and see what I get.

So will Be be supplying ADSL2+ Max ?

Just placed my order with Be. Heres hoping to get atleast 10mb speeds.

Even if its lower, it worth it for unlimited unthrottled connection.

Start a ticket about your connection and say that you would like to be switched to fastpath, my stats were similar to urs and went up by 4mb to 21mbps

Or just tweak the SNR with the DMT thingy.

Yes but getting them to put you on fastpath increases the speed and then with DMT u tweak it some more, hence i went from about 17-18MBps to 21Mbps an then with DMT to 24MBps so get on fastpath asap

    Look at the BOLD mate.

You are about 2Km from the exchange.

As a rough guide there are about 10Db to a Kilometer.

Also, your line is not stable...it's unstable...look at all the CRC and HEC errors.

If you were on a regular up to 8Meg circuit you would be getting 8Meg and my kit would tell me your max rate would be around 9200Kbps.

Because you are on ADSL2+ your speed should be around 18Mbps.

Buy self adjusting, you have induced errors in your circuit.

When the winter comes, you may find you will be getting dropouts.

If you get too many CRC or HEC errors within a given amount of time, your router will automatically reboot.

Because it is such a fast circuit, you probably wont notice the effect of the errors, but they are there.

Your SNR margin of 1.5 is really poor. Do you know what this is?
It is a margin of SAFETY above the point where the DSL will fail...so...lets hope you don't get any REIN issues or, temperature fluctuations.
I know you have set this yourself, but that is too low.

Isnt the CRC errors misrepresented by the modem if interleaving is off (or is it on) ? Its on the Be forums.

I got my modem today. Ordered on the 5th evening and its here today. Thats fast. Unfortunately, no internet yet ... I couldnt resist plugging in to check my luck.
