Strange.. It's got your E8500 listed as being only 1999Mhz

I thought that was odd too. The chip throttles down to 2Ghz when not being pushed, so I can only assume it polled the frequency when it had finished the test. Afterwards I ran Prime95 to check and it did indeed go up to 3.16Ghz.

PS, my score has currently plummeted majourly, down to id estimate around 2k. sold my 6850s waiting for the 6970 to get here at the end of may, til then im stuck with a temp 5670

Aye, there is something odd about his scores. I'm not trying to discredit him or anything, just to be clear, but should two 5870's and slower CPU really have that much over my build?

Edit: Although saying that, i didn't realise ehhhhh was on a PII as well with his score, inherently better cards and only 6 points in front - yet still miles behind Phage.

Hi - Not insulted at all. I just OC'd the thing and ran the benchmark.
I'm not sure what the architectural differences are between the 8XX and 9XX series. Perhaps someone else could shed some light on the matter ?

EDIT: I just checked, and the GPU scores are indeed nearly identical with the other CF5870s. It's all in the CPU.

Maybe the triple channel memory controller and, perhaps more likely, the extra PCI-e bandwidth.

I'll give the PCI-e controller a bit of an overclock

Edit: Although on my last run i was running my RAM @ 2000MHz 9-10-9-27.

I'm not sure how much more (less?) memory bandwidth this offered me up compared to your triple channel set-up, and how much effect this actually has on the benchmark.

I can't help thinking that 3dmark calculates the points in a dodgy way

For example my graphics score is quite high (almost 10K) and the final score doesn't really reflect that.

This is most likely the issue. Benches are fundamentally rubbish.
