What are you talking about?
X58 doesn't suffer anything like this problem
P55 boards don't have a problem normally - you have 1x16 or 2x8 links directly to the CPU which is more than enough for CF or SLI. The problem comes if you have a cheap board which doesn't bother putting two links to the CPU, and instead connects up one link to the CPU, and the other via the incredibly bandwidth starved southbridge (all PCIe lanes off the southbridge are also half speed, to add insult to injury). That means you've got one GPU connected through a high bandwidth low latency connection, and one through a small bandwidth, high latency route. That's obviously a bit pants for CF/SLI.
X58 has no connections from the CPU, but instead they have an ultra fast connection to a northbridge (QPI). The (full speed) PCIe lanes then come off that, and you have 36 of them, so 2x16 isn't even an issue.
p67 is not as good as X58, but because they beefed up the southbridge, the PCIe lanes are at least full speed (per lane) coming off it. Connecting 2x8 directly to the CPU is still the fastest thing to do, but if you have a strange board with one going to the CPU and one going to the southbridge, at least it isn't gimped as much as the p55.
the QPI link is still not fast enough to support full 32 lanes. to get 2x16 the QPI needs to be atleast 32GB/s. Its not its 25.
but yeah point taken. I never said it was a problem to have a x8 x8 as thats more than suffice for SLI / CF. just pointing out your not going to get perfect 16 16 with anything so far.
MSI 5850 twin frozr II at stock clocks, Q9300 with a slight OC to 2.7GHz (but 3dmark picked up 2175, presumably it checks that after the tests as that's the idle speed).
Scored a pretty mediocre 3301

Your xf is not running for some reason.
EDIT: twin frozr; not twin cards!

I couldn't let CAT-THE-FIFTH beat me so I've upped the card to 875 core, 1125 mem, 1.25v. I'll try tweaking it some more and turning off speedstep to see if I can get any better.
New score 3689:

Bagnaj97 is running his Q9300 at 2.7GHZ and is using an Nvidia 9300 based motherboard.
the cpu speed in 3dmark11 doesnt do so much, so its really who is willing to push their gpu further will be leading. afaik the save voltage for those gpus is about 1.35 (40nm blah blah, by safe i mean safe for 1 run) so atm both of you are failing me, get pushing. identical systems should make this interesting
I managed to get the GPU upto 840MHZ on stock voltage and the RAM is still running at 1125MHZ. I got a score of 3540:

With a voltage increase I could probably overclock the HD5850 1GB significantly more but I am not going to do this ATM. I am currently running a Shuttle SFF system which is over 4 years old and do want to overstress it TBH as it uses a 450W SFF PSU.Once I start increasing the voltage on the HD5850 1GB it will consume significantly more power and the Q6600 is not that energy efficient either.
Wow! Seriously disappointed with my last score of 5690!

Got SLI to register by using the patch that went up yesterday, but not anywhere near the score I was expecting. The sysinfo has reported my system right though, so somethings not quite right somewhere on my rig.
I ran Vantage http://3dmark.com/3dmv/3015522 and that score seems about right for what I've got, so maybe I need to do a driver update for GPU's...
Any suggestions anyone?

PHenom x6 1055t @ 3.8 and 480 @ 750/1900
I could put the OC back on if you like. I took it off due to my heat issues with the CF setup.
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.

800/2000 on the gpu now 5331
am running 1100mv through the gtx480 to get that hitting 87c under load. I reckon there might be a little more room in it yet

i reckon i can get more too
